Tips to Decorate with Petals

Tips for Decorating with Fresh Rose Petals

Fresh rose petals are a versatile and elegant addition to weddings, events, and romantic celebrations. Here are some creative ways to incorporate them into your decor:

 1. Romantic Aisle Design

Line the ceremony aisle with fresh rose petals to add a soft and romantic touch. You can scatter them loosely or arrange them in patterns for a more dramatic and personalized effect.

2. Floral Centerpieces and Tablescapes

Use rose petals to enhance your table settings by sprinkling them around centerpieces, on table runners, or across the edges of the dining surfaces. Combine them with candles or greenery for a stunning visual arrangement.

3. Guest Tossing Alternative

Create a charming moment by offering guests small cones or pouches filled with rose petals to toss during key moments like the ceremony recessional or the first dance. This acts as a sustainable and picturesque alternative to traditional confetti or rice.

4. Relaxation and Romantic Spaces

Scatter rose petals in a bathtub filled with water to elevate a relaxing or intimate moment. Pair with candles to craft an irresistible atmosphere of elegance and tranquility.

5. Cake and Dessert Adornments

Decorate cakes, cupcakes, or dessert tables with delicately placed rose petals. Be sure to select food-safe or edible petals to complement your sweet treats safely.

When selecting rose petals, coordinate their colors with the theme of the occasion to achieve a polished, cohesive aesthetic. By integrating these simple yet striking ideas, fresh rose petals can infuse any event with timeless beauty and unforgettable charm.

Care & Handling

Proper care and handling are essential to preserve the beauty and fragrance of fresh rose petals for weddings, events, or romantic celebrations. To keep them looking their best, store the petals in a cool, shaded environment, away from direct sunlight and excessive heat, as these factors can cause wilting or color loss. Ideally, place them in a refrigerator set at approximately 37°F (3°C) to maintain their freshness. Use a breathable container or a lightly vented plastic bag to avoid condensation, which could lead to premature spoilage.

Handle the petals with care to avoid bruising their delicate texture. If you're planning to decorate aisles or tables, wait until the last possible moment to spread them out, minimizing exposure to air and heat. For added fragrance, lightly mist the petals with water, but be cautious not to overdo it, as this could make them heavy and prone to decay.

If the petals arrive ahead of schedule, inspect them regularly and remove any damaged pieces to prevent the spread of rot. By following these simple steps, you can ensure your fresh rose petals stay vibrant and aromatic, creating an elegant and memorable atmosphere for your special occasion.

Tips for ordering
  • We recommend that most flowers be scheduled to be delivered 2-3 days prior to an event. All flowers are harvested just prior to delivery.
  • Delicate flowers such as Lily of the Valley, Gardenias, and Stephanotis are best when delivered 1-2 days before the event.
  • Iris have a short vase life so the delivery should be scheduled 2 days prior to your event.
  • Lotus have a short vase life so they need to be ordered 1-2 days prior to events.
  • Peonies and Ranunculus may take longer to open during cold months. Schedule delivery of these flowers 3-4 days prior to your event.
  • Alstroemeria, Gladiolus, Agapanthus, Stars of Bethlehem, Sunflowers, and Lilies may require at least 3 days for blooming. Consider scheduling delivery of these flowers 3-4 days before your event.
  • Blooming branches for Jan and Feb deliveries should be scheduled for delivery at least 7 - 10 days before your event to permit adequate blooming. Expect blooming in 10 days with cold weather. For March and later, a 4-5 day lead time before your wedding or event is suggested for proper blooming.
  • Pumpkin branches schedule delivery 2 to 3 days prior to your event.
  • For Manzanita branches, if you would like the farm to remove the leaves, this needs to be requested in advance.
If you are unsure what day to select, pick the best available date you can, we suggest 3 days prior to the event. OR you can contact our flower care experts by chat or email to help you decide which date is best for you.
