Tips to Decorate with Petals

Tips for Decorating with Fresh Rose Petals for Special Occasions

Fresh rose petals can bring an air of sophistication and charm to any wedding, celebration, or romantic event. Here are some imaginative ways to use them in your décor:

 1. Petal Toss for Memorable Moments

Offer your guests small cones or bags filled with colorful rose petals to toss during key moments, like the couple’s grand exit or their first dance. This biodegradable choice adds a burst of color and serves as an eco-friendly alternative to confetti or rice.

2. Creating a Relaxing, Romantic Ambiance

Enhance the setting by sprinkling rose petals in a bathtub filled with water. This elegant touch can be complemented with candles to create a warm and tranquil atmosphere, perfect for unwinding or celebrating love.

3. Dessert Table Enhancements

Elevate your dessert table by embellishing cakes, cupcakes, or pastries with carefully placed rose petals. Be sure to use edible or food-safe petals for a dazzling yet safe decorative detail.

To maintain a cohesive look, select rose petals in colors that align with your theme. With their natural elegance and versatility, rose petals can effortlessly add beauty and romance to any event, leaving a lasting impression on your guests.

Care & Handling

Care and Handling for Fresh Rose Petals

Fresh rose petals add elegance and charm to weddings, events, and romantic celebrations, transforming ordinary spaces into breathtaking scenes. To ensure their beauty lasts, proper care and handling are essential.

When you receive your rose petals, keep them in a cool, dry place, ideally refrigerated at around 37°F (3°C). Avoid exposing them to direct sunlight or harsh conditions, as these can cause the petals to wilt or discolor. Store the petals in a breathable container or a lightly vented plastic bag to maintain air circulation and prevent moisture build-up, which may lead to mold.

Handling petals gently is crucial as their delicate texture bruises or tears easily. If you wish to preserve their softness, vibrancy, and fragrance, you can lightly mist them with water using a spray bottle. Use only a minimal amount of moisture to avoid over-saturation, as soaking could damage the petals.

For best results, wait until just before your event to spread the petals on tables, aisles, or other display areas. Check stored petals regularly, removing any that appear damaged or faded to avoid contamination. With these simple yet effective steps, your rose petals will remain fresh and beautiful, setting the tone for an unforgettable celebration.

Tips for ordering
  • We recommend that most flowers be scheduled to be delivered 2-3 days prior to an event. All flowers are harvested just prior to delivery.
  • Delicate flowers such as Lily of the Valley, Gardenias, and Stephanotis are best when delivered 1-2 days before the event.
  • Iris have a short vase life so the delivery should be scheduled 2 days prior to your event.
  • Lotus have a short vase life so they need to be ordered 1-2 days prior to events.
  • Peonies and Ranunculus may take longer to open during cold months. Schedule delivery of these flowers 3-4 days prior to your event.
  • Alstroemeria, Gladiolus, Agapanthus, Stars of Bethlehem, Sunflowers, and Lilies may require at least 3 days for blooming. Consider scheduling delivery of these flowers 3-4 days before your event.
  • Blooming branches for Jan and Feb deliveries should be scheduled for delivery at least 7 - 10 days before your event to permit adequate blooming. Expect blooming in 10 days with cold weather. For March and later, a 4-5 day lead time before your wedding or event is suggested for proper blooming.
  • Pumpkin branches schedule delivery 2 to 3 days prior to your event.
  • For Manzanita branches, if you would like the farm to remove the leaves, this needs to be requested in advance.
If you are unsure what day to select, pick the best available date you can, we suggest 3 days prior to the event. OR you can contact our flower care experts by chat or email to help you decide which date is best for you.
