Bring effortless, organic charm to your event with our fresh-cut Spanish Moss, hand-selected for designers, brides, and crafters who want the real thing — not the dry, dusty bag from a craft store. With its long, soft, silvery-green strands and natural cascading form, fresh Spanish Moss is one of the most versatile decorative greens you can buy in bulk. Whether you're styling a rustic wedding arch, building a woodland centerpiece, draping a Southern-inspired tablescape, or adding texture to a craft project, our farm-fresh Spanish Moss arrives soft, pliable, and ready to design with. Order wholesale online and get the freshest moss delivered straight to your door.

Perfect for Weddings, Events & Floral Arrangements

Spanish Moss is a designer favorite for rustic, boho, vintage, and Southern-themed weddings. Its long, draping strands make it ideal for hanging from wholesale wedding flowers arches, twisting around bouquet handles, and softening the look of fresh cut greens and greenery in centerpieces. Pair it with garden roses, eucalyptus, and pampas grass for a romantic woodland aesthetic, or drape it over chandeliers and ceiling installations for a dreamy bayou-inspired backdrop. Brides love it because it's affordable, looks luxurious, and covers a lot of space — making it one of the most cost-effective ways to fill out a wedding venue.

Versatile for Crafts, Terrariums & Home Decor

Beyond weddings, fresh Spanish Moss is a go-to material for DIY crafters, plant enthusiasts, and interior designers. Use it to line wicker baskets and window boxes, conceal floral foam in wreaths, top potted orchids and houseplants, or add a natural finish to terrariums, fairy gardens, and reptile habitats. It's also a Halloween decorator's secret weapon — perfect for haunted house effects, spooky tablescapes, and ghostly tree drapery. For a complete moss-and-greenery look, pair it with our wholesale Mood Moss to combine soft draping strands with lush, mounded clumps in the same arrangement.

Fresh, Soft & Easy to Work With

Despite its common name, Spanish Moss isn't actually a moss — it's an air plant (Tillandsia usneoides) in the same family as the pineapple, which is why it stays soft and flexible without roots or soil. Our Spanish Moss is sustainably harvested, cleaned, and shipped fresh in bulk boxes so it arrives soft, pliable, and ready to handle. To keep it looking its best, store it in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place out of direct sunlight, and gently fluff before use to bring back its natural volume. With proper care, Spanish Moss has a long shelf life and can be ordered well in advance of your event — making it the stress-free choice for DIY brides and event planners ordering in bulk.

Designing Tips

Spanish Moss Design Tips: How to Style It Like a Pro

Spanish Moss is one of those rare design elements that looks beautiful no matter how you use it — but a few simple techniques will make your arrangements look truly professional. Whether you're a DIY bride styling your own wedding or an event planner working on a large installation, these tips will help you get the most out of every box of fresh Spanish Moss.

Fluff Before You Style

Spanish Moss arrives gently compressed in its shipping box, so always take a few minutes to fluff and separate the strands by hand before using it. Pull the bundle apart slowly, shake it out, and let it breathe for an hour or two — this restores its natural volume and softness. The fluffier the moss, the more luxurious and full your finished design will look. Pro tip: lightly mist with water if the strands feel dry, but never soak it.

Use It to Drape, Not Just Fill

The real magic of Spanish Moss lies in its long, cascading strands. Instead of using it only as a flat filler, let it hang and trail. Drape it over the edges of centerpieces, weave it through wedding arches, hang it from chandeliers, or let it spill out of tall vases. For ceiling installations and photo backdrops, secure clusters with floral wire and let gravity do the styling for you — the natural cascade is what gives Spanish Moss its iconic Southern, bayou-inspired look.

Layer With Other Greens & Florals

Spanish Moss looks stunning on its own, but it absolutely shines when layered with other textures. Pair it with eucalyptus, ruscus, or olive branches for a romantic, organic feel, or combine it with bold blooms like garden roses, peonies, and orchids for an upscale woodland look. For a complete textured base, mix it with our fresh Sheet Moss — sheet moss creates the lush "carpet" while Spanish Moss provides the dramatic draping element.

Wrap, Tie & Wire It Creatively

Spanish Moss is wonderfully flexible, so don't be afraid to manipulate it. Wrap small bundles around bouquet handles for a rustic finish, twist it around candle holders and lanterns, tie it onto place card holders, or use floral wire to shape it into garlands and runners. For escort card displays, lightly press strands into a foam base and pin in cards — instantly transforming a basic table into something memorable. The more creative you get, the more value you'll squeeze out of every box.

FAQ

Spanish Moss FAQs

Is Spanish Moss really moss?

No, despite its name, Spanish Moss is not technically a moss. It's an air plant (Tillandsia usneoides) and a member of the bromeliad family — making it more closely related to the pineapple than to true mosses. It absorbs nutrients and moisture directly from the air through its strands, which is why it can grow without soil and stay soft and flexible even after harvesting.

How long does fresh Spanish Moss last?

When stored properly, fresh Spanish Moss has an exceptionally long shelf life — often several months to a year or more. Keep it in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight to preserve its natural color and texture. Because it's non-perishable, you can safely order Spanish Moss in bulk weeks ahead of your wedding or event without worrying about wilting.

How do you clean fresh Spanish Moss?

Our Spanish Moss is cleaned before shipping, but if you want to refresh it further, gently shake out the strands outdoors to remove any loose debris. For added cleanliness, you can lightly rinse the moss in cool water and lay it flat to air-dry completely before use. Avoid soaking it in hot water or using harsh detergents, as this can affect the texture and color.

Can I use Spanish Moss for indoor terrariums and reptile habitats?

Yes — Spanish Moss is a popular choice for terrariums, vivariums, fairy gardens, and reptile enclosures because of its natural texture and long-lasting nature. It works beautifully as a substrate cover, hiding spot material, or decorative top dressing for orchids and houseplants. Just make sure it's fully dry before placing it in any habitat to prevent mold buildup.

How much Spanish Moss do I need for my wedding?

The amount depends on your design, but as a general rule: one bulk box typically covers a 6-foot wedding arch with cascading drapery, or about 10–12 small centerpieces with moss accents. For ceiling installations, garlands, and full table runners, plan for 2–3 boxes. We always recommend ordering slightly more than you think you'll need — Spanish Moss has a long shelf life, so leftovers can be saved for future events or DIY projects.

Tips for ordering
  • We recommend that most flowers be scheduled to be delivered 2-3 days prior to an event. All flowers are harvested just prior to delivery.
  • Delicate flowers such as Lily of the Valley, Gardenias, and Stephanotis are best when delivered 1-2 days before the event.
  • Iris have a short vase life so the delivery should be scheduled 2 days prior to your event.
  • Lotus have a short vase life so they need to be ordered 1-2 days prior to events.
  • Peonies and Ranunculus may take longer to open during cold months. Schedule delivery of these flowers 3-4 days prior to your event.
  • Alstroemeria, Gladiolus, Agapanthus, Stars of Bethlehem, Sunflowers, and Lilies may require at least 3 days for blooming. Consider scheduling delivery of these flowers 3-4 days before your event.
  • Blooming branches for Jan and Feb deliveries should be scheduled for delivery at least 7 - 10 days before your event to permit adequate blooming. Expect blooming in 10 days with cold weather. For March and later, a 4-5 day lead time before your wedding or event is suggested for proper blooming.
  • Pumpkin branches schedule delivery 2 to 3 days prior to your event.
  • For Manzanita branches, if you would like the farm to remove the leaves, this needs to be requested in advance.
If you are unsure what day to select, pick the best available date you can, we suggest 3 days prior to the event. OR you can contact our flower care experts by chat or email to help you decide which date is best for you.
