Care & Handling

Care Tips for Alstroemeria Flowers

  • Trim stems at a 45-degree angle before placing them in water
  • Use clean, fresh water and floral food
  • Remove any leaves below the waterline
  • Change water every 2–3 days
  • Keep flowers in a cool area, away from direct sunlight and heat
  • Remove wilted blooms to help remaining flowers last longer

Pro Tip: Gently pull spent blooms from the stem instead of cutting—this encourages new buds to open.

Designing Tips

Designing Tips with Alstroemeria

  • Perfect for bridal bouquets, centerpieces, arches, and aisle décor
  • Pair with greenery like eucalyptus, ruscus, or salal for a fresh, modern look
  • Combine with soft tones (blush, ivory, lavender) for romantic designs
  • Use with bold colors (burgundy, navy, emerald) for dramatic contrast
  • Ideal for monochrome arrangements for a clean, timeless style

Designer Tip: Alstroemeria adds volume and texture at a lower cost, making it excellent for large-scale floral designs.

Tips for ordering
  • We recommend that most flowers be scheduled to be delivered 2-3 days prior to an event. All flowers are harvested just prior to delivery.
  • Delicate flowers such as Lily of the Valley, Gardenias, and Stephanotis are best when delivered 1-2 days before the event.
  • Iris have a short vase life so the delivery should be scheduled 2 days prior to your event.
  • Lotus have a short vase life so they need to be ordered 1-2 days prior to events.
  • Peonies and Ranunculus may take longer to open during cold months. Schedule delivery of these flowers 3-4 days prior to your event.
  • Alstroemeria, Gladiolus, Agapanthus, Stars of Bethlehem, Sunflowers, and Lilies may require at least 3 days for blooming. Consider scheduling delivery of these flowers 3-4 days before your event.
  • Blooming branches for Jan and Feb deliveries should be scheduled for delivery at least 7 - 10 days before your event to permit adequate blooming. Expect blooming in 10 days with cold weather. For March and later, a 4-5 day lead time before your wedding or event is suggested for proper blooming.
  • Pumpkin branches schedule delivery 2 to 3 days prior to your event.
  • For Manzanita branches, if you would like the farm to remove the leaves, this needs to be requested in advance.
If you are unsure what day to select, pick the best available date you can, we suggest 3 days prior to the event. OR you can contact our flower care experts by chat or email to help you decide which date is best for you.
