Designing Tips

Designing Tips for Coral Sweet Peas

Domestic Crop • Available March–August

1. Celebrate the Brightness

Coral sweet peas add warmth and cheer to spring and summer arrangements.

  • Spring Weddings: Pair with blush garden roses, ivory ranunculus, and peach stock for a soft, romantic palette.
  • Summer Events: Combine with yellow dahlias, coral peonies, and orange ranunculus for a vibrant, tropical vibe.

2. Bouquet Inspiration

  • Bridal Bouquets: Use coral sweet peas as the pop of color in mostly neutral or pastel bouquets.
  • Bridesmaids: Group in smaller clusters with ivory lisianthus for a playful, coordinated look.
  • Texture Tip: Mix with airy filler like waxflower or astilbe to keep the bouquet light and natural.

3. Centerpieces & Table Décor

  • Romantic Garden Style: Arrange in compote bowls with trailing greenery for a lush centerpiece.
  • Modern & Minimal: Pair with white blooms and place in clear glass cylinders for a fresh, clean aesthetic.
  • Beach & Outdoor Events: Coral sweet peas pop against natural wood tables and soft linens.

4. Ceremony Installations

  • Arches & Backdrops: Coral sweet peas look stunning paired with greenery garlands and ivory roses for bright, cheerful ceremony spaces.
  • Chair Décor: Tie small coral sweet pea clusters with chiffon or silk ribbon to mark the aisle.

5. Color Palettes to Try

  • Soft & Pastel: Coral + blush + cream + sage green.
  • Vibrant & Tropical: Coral + orange + yellow + bright green.
  • Modern Chic: Coral + white + gold accents for a clean, elegant style.

6. Bulk Design Tips

  • Sort by Stem Length: Use taller stems in large centerpieces and shorter ones for boutonnieres or bud vases.
  • Process Early: Hydrate immediately upon arrival to ensure blooms are open and vibrant by event day.
  • Mix & Match: Use coral sweet peas as both focal blooms and accents across different arrangements to tie the event theme together.

Care & Handling

Care & Handling Guide for Coral Sweet Peas

Domestic Crop • Available March–August

1. Unpack Immediately

  • Open your box as soon as it arrives.
  • Carefully remove bunches — coral sweet peas are delicate and can bruise or tear easily.
  • Keep stems upright while unpacking to avoid bending or snapping.

2. Hydrate & Condition

  • Trim Stems: Cut ½ inch from the bottom at a diagonal under clean, cool running water.
  • Use Clean Buckets: Fill with fresh, cool water and add flower food or preservative if provided.
  • Conditioning Time: Allow 4–6 hours for the stems to fully hydrate before arranging for best color and structure.

3. Storage Guidelines

  • Temperature: Store at 36–41°F (2–5°C) in a cooler or cool room.
  • Avoid Heat & Sun: Keep away from direct light, warm air vents, and drafts.
  • Ethylene Sensitive: Do not store near ripening fruit (apples, bananas, tomatoes) to prevent premature wilting.

4. Daily Maintenance

  • Replace water every 24 hours to keep bacteria levels low.
  • Recut stems daily to improve water uptake and maintain freshness.
  • Remove any fading petals to keep bunches looking clean and vibrant.

5. Design & Event Day Tips

  • Keep stems in water until just before designing.
  • Handle petals gently — coral sweet peas show bruising more easily than lighter shades.
  • For outdoor events, keep completed designs shaded and cool until display time.
  • Design arrangements 1–2 days before the event to ensure peak bloom and rich color.

Tips for ordering
  • We recommend that most flowers be scheduled to be delivered 2-3 days prior to an event. All flowers are harvested just prior to delivery.
  • Delicate flowers such as Lily of the Valley, Gardenias, and Stephanotis are best when delivered 1-2 days before the event.
  • Iris have a short vase life so the delivery should be scheduled 2 days prior to your event.
  • Lotus have a short vase life so they need to be ordered 1-2 days prior to events.
  • Peonies and Ranunculus may take longer to open during cold months. Schedule delivery of these flowers 3-4 days prior to your event.
  • Alstroemeria, Gladiolus, Agapanthus, Stars of Bethlehem, Sunflowers, and Lilies may require at least 3 days for blooming. Consider scheduling delivery of these flowers 3-4 days before your event.
  • Blooming branches for Jan and Feb deliveries should be scheduled for delivery at least 7 - 10 days before your event to permit adequate blooming. Expect blooming in 10 days with cold weather. For March and later, a 4-5 day lead time before your wedding or event is suggested for proper blooming.
  • Pumpkin branches schedule delivery 2 to 3 days prior to your event.
  • For Manzanita branches, if you would like the farm to remove the leaves, this needs to be requested in advance.
If you are unsure what day to select, pick the best available date you can, we suggest 3 days prior to the event. OR you can contact our flower care experts by chat or email to help you decide which date is best for you.
