Best Recommendations and Arranging Tips for Fresh Cut Wholesale Roses

 Hydrate Your Roses Immediately

Once you receive your wholesale roses, it’s crucial to hydrate them as soon as possible. Remove any plastic wrapping, trim the stems at an angle, and place them in a clean vase with fresh, lukewarm water. Adding flower food to the water helps extend their freshness.

Remove Excess Leaves

Carefully strip away any leaves that fall below the waterline. This prevents bacterial growth, keeping the water clean and the roses healthy for a longer period.

Condition the Stems

Allow your roses to rest in water for a few hours before arranging. This conditioning step lets them rehydrate fully and helps the blooms to open slightly, improving their visual appeal.

Be Gentle with Petals

Outer petals, often called guard petals, may appear bruised or discolored but can be gently removed for a cleaner, fresher look. Handle the blossoms carefully to avoid damaging the delicate inner petals.

Use Floral Foam for Support

For more intricate arrangements, consider using floral foam to anchor your roses in place. Make sure to soak the foam thoroughly to ensure the stems can continue to absorb water.

Consider Complementary Foliage and Fillers

Pair your roses with greenery like eucalyptus, ivy, or fern, as well as fillers such as baby’s breath or wax flowers. This enhances the overall texture and elevates your arrangement by adding depth and contrast.

Keep Roses Cool

Place your arrangements in a cooler, shaded area away from direct sunlight and drafts. Heat can cause roses to wilt faster, so maintaining a steady, cool environment prolongs their vibrancy.

Refresh the Water Daily

Change the water every day and re-cut the stems slightly to prevent blockages that hinder water absorption. Keeping the water clean helps your roses maintain their beauty and freshness.

Experiment with Color and Design

Wholesale roses come in a vast palette of colors. Play with monochromatic schemes for elegance, or mix complementary colors for a dynamic and lively display. Allow your creativity to guide your design.

Work with Open Blooms and Tight Buds

Combine fully bloomed roses with tighter buds in your arrangement to create a balanced composition. This adds layers of visual interest and ensures the display continues to evolve as the buds gradually open.

Care

Care and Handling for Fresh Cut Roses

 Trim and Hydrate

Cut the stems at an angle immediately and set the roses in cool, clean water. This step helps maximize water intake for longer-lasting blooms.

 Remove Submerged Leaves

Strip any leaves that fall below the waterline to prevent the water from becoming murky and affecting the roses' health.

Enrich with Rose Food

Mix a floral preservative with vase water to give roses essential nourishment and encourage their longevity.

Switch Out Water Often

Empty, clean, and refill the vase every two to three days. A quick stem trim during this process also keeps roses hydrated.

Avoid Heat Sources

Pick a location for your roses that’s away from warm appliances or sunny windows, as heat shortens their lifespan.

Separate from Fruits

Store roses away from fruits that emit ethylene gas, which can result in premature wilting.

Rescue Roses Showing Signs of Wilting

If roses begin to look tired, rehydrate them by submerging in cool water for 20–30 minutes.

Inspect and Care Regularly

Look for shriveled or wilting petals and carefully remove them, ensuring the bouquet remains visually stunning.

Tips for ordering
  • We recommend that most flowers be scheduled to be delivered 2-3 days prior to an event. All flowers are harvested just prior to delivery.

  • Iris have a short vase life so the delivery should be scheduled 2 days prior to your event.
  • Lotus have a short vase life so they need to be ordered 1-2 days prior to events.
  • Peonies and Ranunculus may take longer to open during cold months. Schedule delivery of these flowers 3-4 days prior to your event.
  • Alstroemeria, Gladiolus, Agapanthus, Stars of Bethlehem, Sunflowers, and Lilies may require at least 3 days for blooming. Consider scheduling delivery of these flowers 3-4 days before your event.
  • Blooming branches for Jan and Feb deliveries should be scheduled for delivery at least 7 - 10 days before your event to permit adequate blooming. Expect blooming in 10 days with cold weather. For March and later, a 4-5 day lead time before your wedding or event is suggested for proper blooming.
  • Pumpkin branches schedule delivery 2 to 3 days prior to your event.
  • For Manzanita branches, if you would like the farm to remove the leaves, this needs to be requested in advance.
If you are unsure what day to select, pick the best available date you can, we suggest 3 days prior to the event. OR you can contact our flower care experts by chat or email to help you decide which date is best for you.
