Care & Handling for Bulk Green Roses
To get the most beauty and vase life from your fresh-cut green roses, proper care and handling are essential—especially when ordering in bulk for events or floral design work.

Upon receiving your bulk green roses, open the box and carefully remove all packaging. The roses may appear slightly limp or closed after transit, which is normal. They will rehydrate and bloom once properly conditioned.
2. Hydrate Your Roses
Fill clean buckets or vases with fresh, room-temperature water. Add floral preservative if available to help nourish the blooms and prevent bacteria growth.
- Recut each stem at a 45-degree angle using a clean, sharp knife or floral shears.
- Immediately place the roses into the water after cutting to avoid air blockages that hinder hydration.
3. Remove Guard Petals
Some green roses may arrive with outer "guard petals" left intact to protect the bloom during shipping. Gently remove 1–2 of these petals if they appear bruised or discolored to reveal the fuller, fresher bloom beneath.
4. Control Bloom Time
- To accelerate blooming: Place roses in a warm, well-lit room (but away from direct sunlight). Use slightly warm water and add 1–2 tablespoons of sugar per quart of water.
- To slow blooming: Use cold water and store roses in a cooler or refrigerator set between 34–38°F. Avoid freezing temperatures.
5. Ongoing Care
- Change the water every 24–48 hours.
- Re-trim the stems slightly with each water change to maintain water uptake.
- Remove any leaves that sit below the waterline to reduce bacterial growth.
6. Avoid Harmful Conditions
Keep your green roses away from direct sunlight, drafts, extreme heat, and ripening fruits (which release ethylene gas and can shorten bloom life).
By following these simple steps, your bulk green roses will rehydrate fully, bloom evenly, and stay fresh and beautiful for your event or floral project.
