Tips to Decorate with Petals

Tips for Decorating with Fresh Rose Petals for Weddings, Events, and Romantic Celebrations

Fresh rose petals can elevate the ambiance of any occasion with their natural beauty and elegance. Consider these creative ideas for incorporating them into your décor:

 1. A Stylish Tossing Tradition

Delight your guests by providing small cones or pouches filled with fresh rose petals to toss during memorable moments, such as the couple's ceremonial exit or their first dance. This eco-friendly option offers a stunning, photogenic alternative to confetti or rice.

2. Serene and Romantic Settings

Transform intimate spaces by scattering rose petals in a bathtub filled with water. Add candles for a warm glow and create an atmosphere of serenity and sophistication.

3. Dessert Table Accents

Elevate your cakes, cupcakes, or dessert displays by decorating them with carefully placed rose petals. Opt for edible or food-safe petals to ensure a beautiful yet safe presentation.

When choosing rose petals, align their colors with your celebration’s theme to create a unified and refined look. By incorporating these versatile and timeless ideas, fresh rose petals will leave a lasting impression on your guests and bring a touch of romance to your event.

Care & Handling

To ensure fresh rose petals remain vibrant and beautiful for weddings, events, or romantic celebrations, proper care and handling are essential. Store the petals in a cool, shaded environment, away from direct sunlight and excessive heat, as these conditions can lead to wilting or fading. Ideally, keep them in a refrigerator set to around 37°F (3°C) for optimal freshness. Use a breathable container or a lightly vented plastic bag to prevent condensation, which can speed up spoilage.

Handle the petals gently to avoid bruising their soft texture. If you plan to use them for decorations like aisle runners or table accents, wait until the last moment to lay them out to minimize exposure to air and heat. To enhance their fragrance, you can lightly mist the petals with water, but take care not to over-saturate them, as this could cause them to become heavy and deteriorate.

If the petals arrive earlier than expected, inspect them regularly and discard any damaged ones to avoid the possibility of rot spreading. By following these guidelines, you can maintain the freshness, color, and softness of your rose petals, ensuring they create an elegant and lasting impression at your special event.

Tips for ordering
  • We recommend that most flowers be scheduled to be delivered 2-3 days prior to an event. All flowers are harvested just prior to delivery.
  • Delicate flowers such as Lily of the Valley, Gardenias, and Stephanotis are best when delivered 1-2 days before the event.
  • Iris have a short vase life so the delivery should be scheduled 2 days prior to your event.
  • Lotus have a short vase life so they need to be ordered 1-2 days prior to events.
  • Peonies and Ranunculus may take longer to open during cold months. Schedule delivery of these flowers 3-4 days prior to your event.
  • Alstroemeria, Gladiolus, Agapanthus, Stars of Bethlehem, Sunflowers, and Lilies may require at least 3 days for blooming. Consider scheduling delivery of these flowers 3-4 days before your event.
  • Blooming branches for Jan and Feb deliveries should be scheduled for delivery at least 7 - 10 days before your event to permit adequate blooming. Expect blooming in 10 days with cold weather. For March and later, a 4-5 day lead time before your wedding or event is suggested for proper blooming.
  • Pumpkin branches schedule delivery 2 to 3 days prior to your event.
  • For Manzanita branches, if you would like the farm to remove the leaves, this needs to be requested in advance.
If you are unsure what day to select, pick the best available date you can, we suggest 3 days prior to the event. OR you can contact our flower care experts by chat or email to help you decide which date is best for you.
