Designing Tips for White Baby’s Breath (Gypsophila)

White baby’s breath is loved for its light, airy texture and romantic charm. Here’s how to style it beautifully:

  • Classic Filler: Use it to soften and fill space in bouquets, centerpieces, and wreaths alongside roses, peonies, or ranunculus.
  • Full-Volume Designs: Create “cloud-like” installations using baby’s breath en masse for arches, hanging chandeliers, or aisle decor.
  • Modern Minimalism: Bundle alone in mono-floral bunches for elegant, minimalist arrangements and budget-friendly bouquets.
  • Textural Contrast: Pair with bold blooms like protea or sunflowers to add softness and volume without stealing attention.
  • Wearable Florals: Ideal for boutonnieres, flower crowns, corsages, and hairpieces due to its flexibility and delicate look.

Care & Handling Instructions for White Baby’s Breath

Follow these steps to maximize freshness and performance:

Upon Arrival:

  • Unpack Immediately: Remove bunches carefully to prevent tangling and breakage of delicate stems.
  • Trim Stems: Cut ½ to 1 inch from the base of each stem at a 45° angle using clean, sharp scissors or floral shears.

Hydration:

  • Hydrate in Clean Water: Use room-temperature water in sanitized containers. Baby’s breath drinks best with moderate water levels (don’t flood the stems).
  • Avoid Flower Food: This variety doesn’t need flower preservative—fresh water is sufficient.

Storage:

  • Cool & Dry Environment: Store at 40–50°F in a cool, dry area away from direct sunlight and humidity.
  • Change Water Every 2–3 Days: Recut stems and refresh water to maintain optimal vase life.
  • Provide Ventilation: Keep arrangements well-aerated to prevent mold or mildew, especially in dense designs.
  • Avoid Ethylene Gas: Do not store near ripening fruit or smoke sources.

Tips for ordering
  • We recommend that most flowers be scheduled to be delivered 2-3 days prior to an event. All flowers are harvested just prior to delivery.
  • Delicate flowers such as Lily of the Valley, Gardenias, and Stephanotis are best when delivered 1-2 days before the event.
  • Iris have a short vase life so the delivery should be scheduled 2 days prior to your event.
  • Lotus have a short vase life so they need to be ordered 1-2 days prior to events.
  • Peonies and Ranunculus may take longer to open during cold months. Schedule delivery of these flowers 3-4 days prior to your event.
  • Alstroemeria, Gladiolus, Agapanthus, Stars of Bethlehem, Sunflowers, and Lilies may require at least 3 days for blooming. Consider scheduling delivery of these flowers 3-4 days before your event.
  • Blooming branches for Jan and Feb deliveries should be scheduled for delivery at least 7 - 10 days before your event to permit adequate blooming. Expect blooming in 10 days with cold weather. For March and later, a 4-5 day lead time before your wedding or event is suggested for proper blooming.
  • Pumpkin branches schedule delivery 2 to 3 days prior to your event.
  • For Manzanita branches, if you would like the farm to remove the leaves, this needs to be requested in advance.
If you are unsure what day to select, pick the best available date you can, we suggest 3 days prior to the event. OR you can contact our flower care experts by chat or email to help you decide which date is best for you.
