Care & Handling

Care & Handling – Light Pink Hydrangea – Dutch Flowers

Upon arrival, trim each Light Pink Hydrangea – Dutch Flower stem at a 45-degree angle and immediately place them in clean, lukewarm water. Use a hydration solution designed specifically for hydrangeas if possible. These Dutch-grown blooms are sensitive to air blockages, so always remove any foliage that sits below the water line to prevent bacterial growth. Hydrangeas drink through their stems and petals, so it's crucial to fully submerge them for the first few hours of conditioning—yes, you can soak the entire head in cool water! Store them in a cool environment away from direct sunlight or heat sources. Mist occasionally to maintain hydration, especially if using outdoors. Change water every two days and re-trim stems for optimal longevity. These flowers are bred for quality, so with proper care, they'll maintain their form and delicate pink hue for up to 10 days.

Tips for ordering
  • We recommend that most flowers be scheduled to be delivered 2-3 days prior to an event. All flowers are harvested just prior to delivery.
  • Delicate flowers such as Lily of the Valley, Gardenias, and Stephanotis are best when delivered 1-2 days before the event.
  • Iris have a short vase life so the delivery should be scheduled 2 days prior to your event.
  • Lotus have a short vase life so they need to be ordered 1-2 days prior to events.
  • Peonies and Ranunculus may take longer to open during cold months. Schedule delivery of these flowers 3-4 days prior to your event.
  • Alstroemeria, Gladiolus, Agapanthus, Stars of Bethlehem, Sunflowers, and Lilies may require at least 3 days for blooming. Consider scheduling delivery of these flowers 3-4 days before your event.
  • Blooming branches for Jan and Feb deliveries should be scheduled for delivery at least 7 - 10 days before your event to permit adequate blooming. Expect blooming in 10 days with cold weather. For March and later, a 4-5 day lead time before your wedding or event is suggested for proper blooming.
  • Pumpkin branches schedule delivery 2 to 3 days prior to your event.
  • For Manzanita branches, if you would like the farm to remove the leaves, this needs to be requested in advance.
If you are unsure what day to select, pick the best available date you can, we suggest 3 days prior to the event. OR you can contact our flower care experts by chat or email to help you decide which date is best for you.
