Designing Tips

Designing Tips – Fresh Magnolia Tips

Use Magnolia Tips as a Statement Greenery

Magnolia tips feature glossy green leaves with rich brown undersides, making them ideal as a focal greenery. Let the leaves fan naturally to create movement and depth in arrangements, arches, and installations.

Perfect for Wedding Centerpieces

Magnolia tips work beautifully in both low and elevated centerpieces. Use them as a base greenery and layer in focal blooms such as roses, ranunculus, garden roses, peonies, or hydrangeas for a polished, upscale look.

Ideal for Ceremony Arches & Backdrops

Because magnolia tips are sturdy and hold their shape, they are excellent for ceremony arches, chuppahs, and backdrop installations. Mix them with lighter greenery or florals to soften the look while keeping structure.

Create Lush Tablescapes & Garlands

Magnolia tips are perfect for creating full, organic tablescapes. Lay them flat down banquet tables or weave them into garlands for head tables, sweetheart tables, or holiday dining décor.

Highlight the Two-Tone Leaf Texture

Turn some leaves to showcase the warm brown underside for contrast. This adds visual interest and works especially well in:

  • Fall and winter weddings
  • Holiday décor
  • Rustic, romantic, and Southern-inspired designs

Pair with Seasonal Florals

Magnolia tips pair beautifully with:

  • Spring/Summer: garden roses, spray roses, ranunculus, lisianthus
  • Fall: dahlias, chrysanthemums, scabiosa, berries
  • Winter/Holidays: white roses, amaryllis, pine, eucalyptus, berries

Elegant Holiday Styling

For holiday décor, magnolia tips shine when combined with:

  • Candles and gold accents
  • Pinecones, berries, or subtle ornaments
  • Warm lighting for mantels, staircases, and tables

They add a refined, festive feel without overpowering the design.

Excellent for Installations & Large-Scale Designs

Use magnolia tips in hanging installations, floral chandeliers, or aisle markers. Their durability makes them reliable for designs that need to hold up for extended periods.

Minimalist & Modern Designs

Magnolia tips can stand alone in simple arrangements for a clean, modern aesthetic. Use fewer florals and allow the greenery to speak for itself—perfect for contemporary weddings and luxury events.

Photography-Friendly Greenery

Magnolia tips photograph beautifully due to their sheen and texture, making them a favorite for styled shoots, weddings, and editorial designs.

They pair beautifully with roses, garden roses, peonies, ranunculus, hydrangeas, dahlias, pine, and eucalyptus.

How long do fresh magnolia tips last?

With proper care, fresh magnolia tips can last 7–14 days or longer. They are one of the most durable greenery options available for events.

How should magnolia tips be cared for and handled?

Upon arrival:

  1. Trim the stems slightly at an angle.
  2. Place immediately in clean, cool water.
  3. Store in a cool, shaded area away from direct sunlight and heat.
  4. Lightly mist leaves if storing out of water for short periods.

Avoid excessive handling of the brown underside to preserve its velvety texture.

Yes. Magnolia tips are sturdy enough to be used out of water for short-term décor such as arches, garlands, and tablescapes. For best freshness, hydrate before and after use when possible.

Do magnolia tips have a strong scent?

How many magnolia tips do I need for my event?

Usage varies depending on design:

Tips for ordering
  • We recommend that most flowers be scheduled to be delivered 2-3 days prior to an event. All flowers are harvested just prior to delivery.

  • Iris have a short vase life so the delivery should be scheduled 2 days prior to your event.
  • Lotus have a short vase life so they need to be ordered 1-2 days prior to events.
  • Peonies and Ranunculus may take longer to open during cold months. Schedule delivery of these flowers 3-4 days prior to your event.
  • Alstroemeria, Gladiolus, Agapanthus, Stars of Bethlehem, Sunflowers, and Lilies may require at least 3 days for blooming. Consider scheduling delivery of these flowers 3-4 days before your event.
  • Blooming branches for Jan and Feb deliveries should be scheduled for delivery at least 7 - 10 days before your event to permit adequate blooming. Expect blooming in 10 days with cold weather. For March and later, a 4-5 day lead time before your wedding or event is suggested for proper blooming.
  • Pumpkin branches schedule delivery 2 to 3 days prior to your event.
  • For Manzanita branches, if you would like the farm to remove the leaves, this needs to be requested in advance.
