Designing Tips

Green Cockscomb Celosia adds texture, structure, and a modern organic feel to floral arrangements. Its sculptural brain-like form works beautifully as a focal or accent flower in contemporary, tropical, garden-style, and editorial designs. Florists often use green cockscomb to balance bold blooms, add visual interest to monochromatic palettes, or enhance foliage-forward arrangements. It pairs exceptionally well with white roses, ranunculus, anthurium, orchids, eucalyptus, and other tropical greens, making it ideal for weddings, events, installations, and large-scale centerpieces.

Care

Remove all foliage below the waterline and hydrate immediately upon arrival in clean, room-temperature water. Green cockscomb benefits from a fresh cut at a sharp angle and should be placed in a clean bucket with floral preservative. Keep flowers in a cool environment (38–42°F / 3–6°C) away from direct airflow. Avoid misting the blooms directly. With proper care, green cockscomb can last 7–10 days, making it an excellent choice for multi-day events.

Tips for ordering
  • We recommend that most flowers be scheduled to be delivered 2-3 days prior to an event. All flowers are harvested just prior to delivery.
  • Delicate flowers such as Lily of the Valley, Gardenias, and Stephanotis are best when delivered 1-2 days before the event.
  • Iris have a short vase life so the delivery should be scheduled 2 days prior to your event.
  • Lotus have a short vase life so they need to be ordered 1-2 days prior to events.
  • Peonies and Ranunculus may take longer to open during cold months. Schedule delivery of these flowers 3-4 days prior to your event.
  • Alstroemeria, Gladiolus, Agapanthus, Stars of Bethlehem, Sunflowers, and Lilies may require at least 3 days for blooming. Consider scheduling delivery of these flowers 3-4 days before your event.
  • Blooming branches for Jan and Feb deliveries should be scheduled for delivery at least 7 - 10 days before your event to permit adequate blooming. Expect blooming in 10 days with cold weather. For March and later, a 4-5 day lead time before your wedding or event is suggested for proper blooming.
  • Pumpkin branches schedule delivery 2 to 3 days prior to your event.
  • For Manzanita branches, if you would like the farm to remove the leaves, this needs to be requested in advance.
If you are unsure what day to select, pick the best available date you can, we suggest 3 days prior to the event. OR you can contact our flower care experts by chat or email to help you decide which date is best for you.
