Q & A

Q&A for Festiva Maxima Peony Flower Delivery

Q: When is the best time to order Festiva Maxima Peonies for an event?
A: We recommend placing your order 7–10 days before your event. This allows enough time for the blooms to open naturally after arrival, showcasing their full volume and crimson-accented beauty.

Q: What makes Festiva Maxima Peonies unique compared to other white peonies?
A: Festiva Maxima Peonies are known for their massive, ruffled white blooms with soft crimson flecks, an intoxicating fragrance, and a romantic, heirloom appeal. They're among the most fragrant peonies available.

Q: Can I schedule delivery for a specific date?
A: Yes! Whole Blossoms offers precise delivery scheduling to ensure your peonies arrive at peak freshness, just in time for your event.

Q: How long do Festiva Maxima Peonies last after delivery?
A: With proper care, they typically last 5–7 days in a vase and even longer in cooler environments. For event use, plan for 2–3 days of hydration for full bloom.

Q: Are Festiva Maxima Peonies suitable for weddings?
A: Absolutely. These peonies are among the most sought-after wedding flowers due to their size, fragrance, symbolism of purity and romance, and soft, classic aesthetic.

Q: Can I combine these peonies with other flower varieties in arrangements?
A: Yes! Festiva Maxima Peonies pair beautifully with blush roses, ranunculus, lisianthus, and soft greenery like eucalyptus and dusty miller for elegant arrangements.

Care & Handling

Care & Handling for Festiva Maxima Peonies

To ensure your Festiva Maxima Peonies arrive and perform at their best for your wedding, event, or floral design, follow these professional handling tips:

Upon Arrival:

  • Unpack Immediately: Remove your peonies from the box as soon as they arrive. Inspect for any transit-related stress (some bruising or soft petals are normal and will shed as blooms open).
  • Trim Stems: Cut ½ to 1 inch off the bottom of each stem at a 45-degree angle using sharp floral shears or a sanitized knife. This opens the stem for hydration.
  • Hydrate: Place stems in fresh, clean, room-temperature water for a minimum of 4–6 hours before arranging. Add flower food if provided.
  • Storage: Store in a cool location away from direct sunlight, drafts, and fruit (which emits ethylene gas that can shorten vase life).

Vase & Blooming Tips:

  • Closed Blooms? Peonies often arrive in bud form. To speed blooming, place in warmer water and a warmer environment (65–75°F). Gently massage the outer petals to encourage opening.
  • Open Blooms? For events in 1–2 days, store in refrigeration (34–38°F) to slow blooming.
  • Change Water Daily: Replace with clean water and re-trim stems every 24 hours to maximize vase life and bloom quality.

Vase Life:

  • Average vase life is 5–7 days, depending on environment and freshness at delivery. Peonies are known for their showy, short-season glory — enjoy them at their peak!

Design Tip:

  • Festiva Maxima’s white petals with crimson flecks pair beautifully with blush roses, dusty miller, white ranunculus, and garden roses in classic, romantic designs.

Tips for ordering
  • We recommend that most flowers be scheduled to be delivered 2-3 days prior to an event. All flowers are harvested just prior to delivery.
  • Delicate flowers such as Lily of the Valley, Gardenias, and Stephanotis are best when delivered 1-2 days before the event.
  • Iris have a short vase life so the delivery should be scheduled 2 days prior to your event.
  • Lotus have a short vase life so they need to be ordered 1-2 days prior to events.
  • Peonies and Ranunculus may take longer to open during cold months. Schedule delivery of these flowers 3-4 days prior to your event.
  • Alstroemeria, Gladiolus, Agapanthus, Stars of Bethlehem, Sunflowers, and Lilies may require at least 3 days for blooming. Consider scheduling delivery of these flowers 3-4 days before your event.
  • Blooming branches for Jan and Feb deliveries should be scheduled for delivery at least 7 - 10 days before your event to permit adequate blooming. Expect blooming in 10 days with cold weather. For March and later, a 4-5 day lead time before your wedding or event is suggested for proper blooming.
  • Pumpkin branches schedule delivery 2 to 3 days prior to your event.
  • For Manzanita branches, if you would like the farm to remove the leaves, this needs to be requested in advance.
If you are unsure what day to select, pick the best available date you can, we suggest 3 days prior to the event. OR you can contact our flower care experts by chat or email to help you decide which date is best for you.
