Tips to Arrange Wholesale Flowers Like a Pro

1. Balance Your Colors

When arranging flowers, consider the color palette to create a visually harmonious design. Use complementary colors for contrast or analogous colors for a more cohesive look. Adding a pop of bold color can create a focal point that draws the eye.

2. Work with Height and Dimension

Vary the height and placement of your flowers to build depth and dimension. Use taller flowers to create vertical interest and shorter blooms to fill in gaps. This variation adds a professional, dynamic quality to your arrangement.

3. Use Filler Flowers Strategically

Filler flowers, such as baby’s breath or ferns, can enhance your arrangement by providing texture and support. Place them thoughtfully to frame the main blooms without overshadowing them.

4. Rotate Your Arrangement as You Work

Frequent rotation of your arrangement ensures it looks balanced and appealing from all angles. This is especially important for centerpieces or displays that will be viewed from multiple perspectives.

5. Trust Your Intuition

While guidelines are helpful, trust your instincts when creating your floral arrangement. Your unique vision and creativity are what make it truly special, allowing your personal style to shine through.

Care

Care and Handling for Fresh Cut Roses

Ensure Hydration from the Start

Cut the stems diagonally when your roses arrive and place them straight into a vase of clean, room-temperature water to maximize hydration.

Foliage-Free Water

Carefully remove any leaves that fall below the vase’s waterline to maintain water clarity and reduce bacterial growth.

Use Fresh-Cut Rose Food

Stir flower food into the vase’s water to supply nutrients that nourish the petals and keep them looking fresh.

Regularly Refresh the Vase Water

Change the water in your rose’s vase at least twice a week. While doing so, clean the vase and cut the stems slightly to improve water uptake.

Keep Roses Cool

Place your roses in a cool, shaded part of your home, avoiding sunny or overly warm areas, which can lead to quick deterioration.

Wind and Fruit-Free Zones

Position your roses away from drafts or breezy windows and keep them distant from ripening fruits that release aging gases.

Rehydrate Wilted Blooms

For roses that begin to wilt, immerse the blooms and stems in a basin of cool water for an hour to restore their freshness.

Daily Maintenance

Remove wilted, bruised, or discolored petals and foliage right away to keep your bouquet looking vibrant and clean.

Tips for ordering
  • We recommend that most flowers be scheduled to be delivered 2-3 days prior to an event. All flowers are harvested just prior to delivery.
  • Delicate flowers such as Lily of the Valley, Gardenias, and Stephanotis are best when delivered 1-2 days before the event.
  • Iris have a short vase life so the delivery should be scheduled 2 days prior to your event.
  • Lotus have a short vase life so they need to be ordered 1-2 days prior to events.
  • Peonies and Ranunculus may take longer to open during cold months. Schedule delivery of these flowers 3-4 days prior to your event.
  • Alstroemeria, Gladiolus, Agapanthus, Stars of Bethlehem, Sunflowers, and Lilies may require at least 3 days for blooming. Consider scheduling delivery of these flowers 3-4 days before your event.
  • Blooming branches for Jan and Feb deliveries should be scheduled for delivery at least 7 - 10 days before your event to permit adequate blooming. Expect blooming in 10 days with cold weather. For March and later, a 4-5 day lead time before your wedding or event is suggested for proper blooming.
  • Pumpkin branches schedule delivery 2 to 3 days prior to your event.
  • For Manzanita branches, if you would like the farm to remove the leaves, this needs to be requested in advance.
If you are unsure what day to select, pick the best available date you can, we suggest 3 days prior to the event. OR you can contact our flower care experts by chat or email to help you decide which date is best for you.
