Designing Tips

Designing Tips for Light Blue Sweet Peas

1. Highlight the Soft Pastel Tone

Light blue sweet peas are perfect for ethereal and romantic looks.

  • Pair With: White roses, ivory ranunculus, pale delphinium, or dusty miller for a dreamy palette.
  • Contrast Option: Mix with blush and peach tones for a watercolor-style arrangement.

2. Bouquet Inspiration

  • Bridal Bouquets: Feature them as a delicate accent for a “something blue” touch.
  • Bridesmaids: Use smaller clusters for airy, light posies that complement soft dresses.
  • Texture Tip: Mix with scabiosa, clematis, or astilbe to add dimension and movement.

3. Centerpieces & Table Décor

  • Soft Romantic Designs: Place in glass or white ceramic compotes with white and blush blooms for a timeless look.
  • Modern Minimal: Pair with all-white florals in clear vases for a clean, sophisticated style.
  • Floating Accents: Incorporate into bud vases or line them down a table runner for a delicate tablescape.

4. Ceremony & Installations

  • Arches & Backdrops: Light blue sweet peas add soft color to greenery installations and create a whimsical feel.
  • Aisle Décor: Tie small clusters with chiffon ribbon for a subtle, elegant detail.

5. Color Palettes to Try

  • Classic & Clean: Light blue + white + sage green.
  • Whimsical Pastel: Light blue + blush + lavender + soft yellow.
  • Beach-Inspired: Light blue + ivory + sandy beige + dusty gray greens.

6. Bulk Design Tips

  • Sort Stems by Height: Use longer stems for large arrangements and shorter ones for boutonnieres or bud vases.
  • Hydrate Early: Ensure they’re fully conditioned before designing for best color vibrancy.
  • Mix Evenly: Spread the light blue blooms throughout arrangements to create a balanced, cohesive color story.

Care & Handling

Care & Handling Guide for Light Blue Dyed Sweet Peas

1. Unpack Carefully

  • Open the box as soon as it arrives.
  • Gently remove bunches — dyed sweet peas are delicate and their petals can smudge if handled roughly.
  • Keep upright to avoid bending stems or rubbing off color.

2. Hydrate & Condition

  • Trim Stems: Cut ½ inch from the bottom at a diagonal under clean, cool running water.
  • Use Clean Buckets: Fill with fresh, cool water. If using flower food, follow directions — avoid excess to prevent tint bleeding.
  • Conditioning Time: Allow 4–6 hours to fully hydrate before arranging for the best color and vase life.

3. Storage Guidelines

  • Temperature: Store at 36–41°F (2–5°C) until ready to design.
  • Avoid Heat & Sunlight: Exposure can cause premature wilting or fading of dyed petals.
  • Keep Separate: If worried about tint transfer, store separately from white or light-colored flowers.

4. Daily Maintenance

  • Refresh water daily with clean, cool water.
  • Recut stems every 24 hours to maximize hydration.
  • Remove any petals that look faded or damaged to maintain a polished look.

5. Design & Event Tips

  • Hydrate until just before designing — this ensures petals stay plump and colorful.
  • Handle with care when mixing with other flowers, especially white blooms, to avoid tint transfer.
  • Keep completed arrangements in a cool, shaded space until display time.
  • Design 1–2 days before the event to ensure they look their best on the big day.

Tips for ordering
  • We recommend that most flowers be scheduled to be delivered 2-3 days prior to an event. All flowers are harvested just prior to delivery.
  • Delicate flowers such as Lily of the Valley, Gardenias, and Stephanotis are best when delivered 1-2 days before the event.
  • Iris have a short vase life so the delivery should be scheduled 2 days prior to your event.
  • Lotus have a short vase life so they need to be ordered 1-2 days prior to events.
  • Peonies and Ranunculus may take longer to open during cold months. Schedule delivery of these flowers 3-4 days prior to your event.
  • Alstroemeria, Gladiolus, Agapanthus, Stars of Bethlehem, Sunflowers, and Lilies may require at least 3 days for blooming. Consider scheduling delivery of these flowers 3-4 days before your event.
  • Blooming branches for Jan and Feb deliveries should be scheduled for delivery at least 7 - 10 days before your event to permit adequate blooming. Expect blooming in 10 days with cold weather. For March and later, a 4-5 day lead time before your wedding or event is suggested for proper blooming.
  • Pumpkin branches schedule delivery 2 to 3 days prior to your event.
  • For Manzanita branches, if you would like the farm to remove the leaves, this needs to be requested in advance.
If you are unsure what day to select, pick the best available date you can, we suggest 3 days prior to the event. OR you can contact our flower care experts by chat or email to help you decide which date is best for you.
