Care & Handling

Care and Handling for Fresh Rose Petals

Proper care and handling of fresh rose petals are essential to ensure their beauty and longevity for weddings, events, and romantic celebrations. Follow these simple steps to keep your petals at their best:

 1. Storage

Upon receiving your fresh rose petals, store them in a cool, dark, and dry place. Ideally, keep them refrigerated at a temperature between 36-40°F to ensure they remain fresh. Avoid freezing them, as this can damage their delicate structure.

2. Moisture Management

Fresh petals should remain dry to maintain their appearance and prevent wilting. If they come in contact with water, gently pat them dry with a soft cloth or paper towel. Excess moisture can cause discoloration or mold.

3. Timing

Plan to use your rose petals on the day of your event for the best results. Take them out of refrigeration about 30 minutes before use to allow them to acclimate to room temperature.

4. Handling

Handle the petals with clean, dry hands. Be gentle while arranging them to avoid bruising or tearing their soft, velvety surfaces.

By following these care tips, you can ensure your fresh rose petals look vibrant, elegant, and perfect for creating memorable, enchanting moments.

Tips for ordering
  • We recommend that most flowers be scheduled to be delivered 2-3 days prior to an event. All flowers are harvested just prior to delivery.
  • Delicate flowers such as Lily of the Valley, Gardenias, and Stephanotis are best when delivered 1-2 days before the event.
  • Iris have a short vase life so the delivery should be scheduled 2 days prior to your event.
  • Lotus have a short vase life so they need to be ordered 1-2 days prior to events.
  • Peonies and Ranunculus may take longer to open during cold months. Schedule delivery of these flowers 3-4 days prior to your event.
  • Alstroemeria, Gladiolus, Agapanthus, Stars of Bethlehem, Sunflowers, and Lilies may require at least 3 days for blooming. Consider scheduling delivery of these flowers 3-4 days before your event.
  • Blooming branches for Jan and Feb deliveries should be scheduled for delivery at least 7 - 10 days before your event to permit adequate blooming. Expect blooming in 10 days with cold weather. For March and later, a 4-5 day lead time before your wedding or event is suggested for proper blooming.
  • Pumpkin branches schedule delivery 2 to 3 days prior to your event.
  • For Manzanita branches, if you would like the farm to remove the leaves, this needs to be requested in advance.
If you are unsure what day to select, pick the best available date you can, we suggest 3 days prior to the event. OR you can contact our flower care experts by chat or email to help you decide which date is best for you.
