FAQ for Fresh Cut Ranunculus

Q: How can I tell if my ranunculus are too cold?

A: Ranunculus prefer a cool environment, but if the blooms start showing signs of browning or frost damage, they might be too cold. It's best to avoid placing them near drafts or in direct paths of air conditioning.

Q: Is it common for ranunculus to have a bent neck?

A: Yes, it can happen. If you notice a bent neck, re-cut the stem under warm water at a 45-degree angle and ensure they are in sufficient water to help them recover. A support structure like floral wire might also assist.

Q: How can I make my ranunculus open faster?

A: To encourage them to open, place the blooms in a slightly warmer room and provide sufficient water, while ensuring they are exposed to indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight as it can cause premature wilting.

Q: Can ranunculus be revived if they start to droop?

A: Yes, you can try re-cutting the stems under running water and changing the vase water. Ensuring the environment is cool and free from drafts can also help them recover from droop.

Q: Are ranunculus flowers safe for pets?

A: Ranunculus can be toxic if ingested by pets. It's best to keep them out of reach of curious pets to prevent any health issues.

Expert Tips for Perfect Ranunculus Care

Caring for fresh cut ranunculus requires a thoughtful approach to ensure they last as long as possible with their full vibrancy. Here are some additional expert tips to enhance their longevity:

  • Optimal Temperature: Maintain a consistent temperature around 60-65°F around your flowers. Temperatures outside this range can affect their freshness and vibrancy.
  • Humidity Considerations: Ideally, keep ranunculus in an environment with moderate humidity. This helps to prevent them from drying out without increasing the risk of mold growth.
  • Gentle Handling: Always handle the stems gently when moving or arranging them to prevent bruising or damage.
  • Nutritional Support: In addition to a floral preservative, a pinch of sugar in the vase water can provide a quick energy boost for the blooms.
  • Observational Care: Regularly inspect the flowers for signs of stress or dehydration. Softened petals or drooping heads may indicate a need for immediate attention.

By incorporating these expert recommendations, you can enjoy the delicate beauty and striking appearance of your fresh cut ranunculus for the longest possible time. They will continue to grace your space with elegance and sophistication, captivating anyone who gazes upon them.

Tips for ordering
  • We recommend that most flowers be scheduled to be delivered 2-3 days prior to an event. All flowers are harvested just prior to delivery.
  • Delicate flowers such as Lily of the Valley, Gardenias, and Stephanotis are best when delivered 1-2 days before the event.
  • Iris have a short vase life so the delivery should be scheduled 2 days prior to your event.
  • Lotus have a short vase life so they need to be ordered 1-2 days prior to events.
  • Peonies and Ranunculus may take longer to open during cold months. Schedule delivery of these flowers 3-4 days prior to your event.
  • Alstroemeria, Gladiolus, Agapanthus, Stars of Bethlehem, Sunflowers, and Lilies may require at least 3 days for blooming. Consider scheduling delivery of these flowers 3-4 days before your event.
  • Blooming branches for Jan and Feb deliveries should be scheduled for delivery at least 7 - 10 days before your event to permit adequate blooming. Expect blooming in 10 days with cold weather. For March and later, a 4-5 day lead time before your wedding or event is suggested for proper blooming.
  • Pumpkin branches schedule delivery 2 to 3 days prior to your event.
  • For Manzanita branches, if you would like the farm to remove the leaves, this needs to be requested in advance.
If you are unsure what day to select, pick the best available date you can, we suggest 3 days prior to the event. OR you can contact our flower care experts by chat or email to help you decide which date is best for you.
