Q & A

Q: What season are white peonies available?
A: White peonies are typically available from May through early July, with some imports extending into the fall and winter seasons.

Q: How long do white peonies last once delivered?
A: With proper care, white peonies can last 5 to 7 days in a vase. Bud-stage blooms may last longer as they continue to open after arrival.

Q: Can I use white peonies for weddings in hot weather?
A: Yes, but it’s essential to keep them cool and hydrated. Use cold storage before the event and mist occasionally if used outdoors.

Q: Are white peonies fragrant?
A: Many varieties of white peonies, like ‘Duchesse de Nemours,’ have a light, sweet fragrance, adding a luxurious touch to arrangements.

Q: Can I mix white peonies with other flowers?
A: Absolutely. White peonies pair beautifully with roses, ranunculus, lisianthus, eucalyptus, and dusty miller for elegant bouquets.

Care & Handling

Care & Handling for White Peonies

  1. Upon Arrival:
Unpack your peonies immediately. Trim 1–2 inches off each stem at a 45° angle using sharp shears.
  2. Hydration:
Place in clean containers with fresh, cool water. Keep in a cool location (ideally 36–40°F) for 6–8 hours to rehydrate.
  3. Bloom Control:
Peonies arrive in bud stage. To open faster, place them in a warm room (70–75°F) with bright, indirect light. For slower blooming, refrigerate.
  4. Water Maintenance:
Change water daily and re-trim stems every 2 days to prevent bacterial buildup and maximize vase life.
  5. Avoid Direct Heat & Sun:
Keep peonies away from direct sunlight, heaters, or vents. Heat shortens vase life and can cause petals to wilt.
  6. Event Prep Tip:
Allow 1–2 days of hydration before your event to ensure full bloom. Store at cool room temperature once desired openness is reached.
  7. Disposal of Outer Petals:
Gently remove any guard petals (the outermost petals that may appear blemished) to reveal the inner, unblemished bloom.

Tips for ordering
  • We recommend that most flowers be scheduled to be delivered 2-3 days prior to an event. All flowers are harvested just prior to delivery.
  • Delicate flowers such as Lily of the Valley, Gardenias, and Stephanotis are best when delivered 1-2 days before the event.
  • Iris have a short vase life so the delivery should be scheduled 2 days prior to your event.
  • Lotus have a short vase life so they need to be ordered 1-2 days prior to events.
  • Peonies and Ranunculus may take longer to open during cold months. Schedule delivery of these flowers 3-4 days prior to your event.
  • Alstroemeria, Gladiolus, Agapanthus, Stars of Bethlehem, Sunflowers, and Lilies may require at least 3 days for blooming. Consider scheduling delivery of these flowers 3-4 days before your event.
  • Blooming branches for Jan and Feb deliveries should be scheduled for delivery at least 7 - 10 days before your event to permit adequate blooming. Expect blooming in 10 days with cold weather. For March and later, a 4-5 day lead time before your wedding or event is suggested for proper blooming.
  • Pumpkin branches schedule delivery 2 to 3 days prior to your event.
  • For Manzanita branches, if you would like the farm to remove the leaves, this needs to be requested in advance.
If you are unsure what day to select, pick the best available date you can, we suggest 3 days prior to the event. OR you can contact our flower care experts by chat or email to help you decide which date is best for you.
