Arranging Tips

Arranging Tips for Dark Pink Peonies:

  1. Start with Hydration: Rehydrate peonies in cool water for 4–5 hours. Trim stems at an angle and remove excess foliage to help blooms open faster.
  2. Pair with Lighter Tones: Balance their bold color with soft blush roses, white lisianthus, or ivory ranunculus to create depth and romance.
  3. Add Texture: Use greenery like seeded eucalyptus or dusty miller to contrast the smooth peony petals and enhance the arrangement’s structure.
  4. Layer by Bloom Size: Place large peonies at the focal point, and cluster medium blooms with delicate filler flowers like astilbe or wax flower around them.
  5. Perfect for Centerpieces: Float open dark pink peonies in shallow bowls or cluster in low vases for dramatic, luxurious centerpieces.
  6. Bridal Bouquets: Combine with pastel peonies or soft dahlias, and wrap stems in silk ribbon for a lush, timeless bridal bouquet.

Care

Care & Handling for Fresh Peonies (Receive 4 Days Before Use):

  1. Unpack Immediately: Upon arrival, open boxes and remove any protective sleeves. Do not force closed blooms.
  2. Trim Stems: Cut 1–2 inches off each stem at a 45° angle under clean, running water to help with water uptake.
  3. Remove Leaves: Strip any foliage below the waterline to prevent bacterial growth.
  4. Hydrate: Place stems in clean buckets filled with fresh, cool water and floral preservative. Keep in a cool, shaded space away from direct sunlight.
  5. Encourage Blooming: To help them open, move peonies to a warmer room (around 70°F) after the first 24 hours. Change water daily and recut stems as needed.
  6. Open Time: Peonies typically take 3–4 days to fully open. Gently massage the outer petals to help closed buds bloom faster if needed.
  7. Storage Before Event: Once open, move to a cooler room or floral cooler to slow blooming until ready to arrange.

Tips for ordering
  • We recommend that most flowers be scheduled to be delivered 2-3 days prior to an event. All flowers are harvested just prior to delivery.
  • Delicate flowers such as Lily of the Valley, Gardenias, and Stephanotis are best when delivered 1-2 days before the event.
  • Iris have a short vase life so the delivery should be scheduled 2 days prior to your event.
  • Lotus have a short vase life so they need to be ordered 1-2 days prior to events.
  • Peonies and Ranunculus may take longer to open during cold months. Schedule delivery of these flowers 3-4 days prior to your event.
  • Alstroemeria, Gladiolus, Agapanthus, Stars of Bethlehem, Sunflowers, and Lilies may require at least 3 days for blooming. Consider scheduling delivery of these flowers 3-4 days before your event.
  • Blooming branches for Jan and Feb deliveries should be scheduled for delivery at least 7 - 10 days before your event to permit adequate blooming. Expect blooming in 10 days with cold weather. For March and later, a 4-5 day lead time before your wedding or event is suggested for proper blooming.
  • Pumpkin branches schedule delivery 2 to 3 days prior to your event.
  • For Manzanita branches, if you would like the farm to remove the leaves, this needs to be requested in advance.
If you are unsure what day to select, pick the best available date you can, we suggest 3 days prior to the event. OR you can contact our flower care experts by chat or email to help you decide which date is best for you.
