Designing Tips

Create a garden-style bridal bouquet. Use assorted peonies as the focal flowers and surround them with smaller blooms and delicate greenery. Allow some stems to extend naturally rather than creating a perfectly rounded bouquet for a softer, garden-inspired appearance.

Let peonies provide the volume. Because peonies have substantial flower heads, a few open blooms can dramatically increase the size and impact of an arrangement. Position your largest blooms first and design the supporting flowers around them.

Build romantic wedding centerpieces. Combine assorted peonies with roses, ranunculus, hydrangeas, or lisianthus in compotes or low vessels. Mixing different flower shapes creates dimension while allowing the peonies to remain the focal point.

Embrace the assorted colors. Instead of trying to make every arrangement identical, distribute the different peony shades throughout your designs. Repeating several colors across bouquets and centerpieces creates a cohesive wedding look while preserving the beauty of the assortment.

Mix bloom stages for texture. Use tighter peony buds alongside partially opened and fully opened flowers when available. The variation in bloom stages adds depth and gives arrangements a natural, freshly gathered appearance.

Use peonies for statement designs. Their size makes them especially effective in ceremony arrangements, sweetheart-table flowers, welcome displays, bar arrangements, and other focal areas where you want the flowers to attract attention.

Give the blooms room to open. Avoid packing peonies too tightly into arrangements before they have fully opened. Leaving space between the flower heads allows the blooms to expand naturally and display their signature layered petals.

Design close to the event date. Hydrate and condition the peonies after arrival, then monitor their opening carefully. For weddings and events, arrange them when the blooms have reached the stage that best suits your desired design.

FAQ

Are peonies available for weddings in August?
Yes. Although the traditional peony season is during spring and early summer, fresh peonies can be sourced from select growing regions during August. Availability, varieties, and colors may vary depending on the harvest.

Why choose assorted peonies for an August wedding?
Assorted peonies bring lush texture, romantic volume, and beautiful color variation to summer wedding designs. Their large blooms make an impressive statement in bouquets, centerpieces, and ceremony arrangements.

What colors are included in assorted August peonies?
The assortment can vary according to seasonal availability and may feature different shades and varieties. Because these are assorted peonies, specific colors cannot be guaranteed unless otherwise stated.

Can I use assorted peonies for bridal bouquets?
Absolutely. Peonies are especially popular for bridal and bridesmaid bouquets because their full, layered blooms create a romantic garden-inspired look without requiring a large number of stems.

Are assorted peonies suitable for wedding centerpieces?
Yes. Their large flower heads provide excellent volume for centerpieces. They work beautifully in low compote arrangements, elevated designs, bud vases, and lush reception tablescapes.

How far in advance should I order peonies for an August event?
Order as early as possible for an August wedding or special event. Peonies are a seasonal flower, and advance ordering provides the best opportunity to secure availability for your event date.

Will all of my assorted peonies look exactly the same?
No. Natural variations in color, bloom size, shape, and maturity are expected. These differences are part of the beauty of an assorted peony arrangement and help create a natural, garden-style appearance.

How should I care for fresh peonies after delivery?
Remove the flowers from their packaging, trim the stems at an angle, remove foliage that would sit below the waterline, and place them in clean containers with fresh water. Keep them in a cool location away from direct sunlight and heat while they hydrate.

Can assorted peonies be combined with other wedding flowers?
Yes. Peonies pair beautifully with roses, ranunculus, hydrangeas, lisianthus, delphinium, greenery, and many other seasonal flowers, making them versatile for both romantic and modern wedding styles.

What events are assorted August peonies suitable for?
Beyond weddings, assorted peonies can be used for bridal showers, engagement parties, anniversaries, birthdays, corporate events, dinner parties, and other elegant summer celebrations.

Tips for ordering
  • We recommend that most flowers be scheduled to be delivered 2-3 days prior to an event. All flowers are harvested just prior to delivery.
  • Delicate flowers such as Lily of the Valley, Gardenias, and Stephanotis are best when delivered 1-2 days before the event.
  • Iris have a short vase life so the delivery should be scheduled 2 days prior to your event.
  • Lotus have a short vase life so they need to be ordered 1-2 days prior to events.
  • Peonies and Ranunculus may take longer to open during cold months. Schedule delivery of these flowers 3-4 days prior to your event.
  • Alstroemeria, Gladiolus, Agapanthus, Stars of Bethlehem, Sunflowers, and Lilies may require at least 3 days for blooming. Consider scheduling delivery of these flowers 3-4 days before your event.
  • Blooming branches for Jan and Feb deliveries should be scheduled for delivery at least 7 - 10 days before your event to permit adequate blooming. Expect blooming in 10 days with cold weather. For March and later, a 4-5 day lead time before your wedding or event is suggested for proper blooming.
  • Pumpkin branches schedule delivery 2 to 3 days prior to your event.
  • For Manzanita branches, if you would like the farm to remove the leaves, this needs to be requested in advance.
If you are unsure what day to select, pick the best available date you can, we suggest 3 days prior to the event. OR you can contact our flower care experts by chat or email to help you decide which date is best for you.
