Care & Handling

Care & Handling for Bicolor White and Red Roses:

  1. Unpack Carefully: Upon arrival, gently remove the roses from their packaging to avoid damaging the petals.

  2. Trim the Stems: Cut 1 to 2 inches off the stems at a 45-degree angle. This allows the roses to absorb water more efficiently.

  3. Remove Lower Leaves: Strip any leaves that will be submerged in water to prevent bacterial growth.

  4. Hydrate Immediately: Place the roses in a clean vase filled with fresh, lukewarm water. Add flower food if provided. This helps extend their lifespan.

  5. Store in a Cool Place: Keep the roses in a cool location, away from direct sunlight, drafts, or heat sources. Optimal temperature is 36-38°F.

  6. Refresh the Water: Change the water every 24-48 hours, re-cutting the stems slightly with each change to maintain water uptake.

  7. Avoid Ethylene Gas: Keep the roses away from fruits, as they emit ethylene gas which can cause flowers to wilt prematurely.

Tips for ordering
  • We recommend that most flowers be scheduled to be delivered 2-3 days prior to an event. All flowers are harvested just prior to delivery.
  • Delicate flowers such as Lily of the Valley, Gardenias, and Stephanotis are best when delivered 1-2 days before the event.
  • Iris have a short vase life so the delivery should be scheduled 2 days prior to your event.
  • Lotus have a short vase life so they need to be ordered 1-2 days prior to events.
  • Peonies and Ranunculus may take longer to open during cold months. Schedule delivery of these flowers 3-4 days prior to your event.
  • Alstroemeria, Gladiolus, Agapanthus, Stars of Bethlehem, Sunflowers, and Lilies may require at least 3 days for blooming. Consider scheduling delivery of these flowers 3-4 days before your event.
  • Blooming branches for Jan and Feb deliveries should be scheduled for delivery at least 7 days before your event to permit adequate blooming. For March and later, a 4-5 day lead time before your wedding or event is suggested for proper blooming.
  • Pumpkin branches schedule delivery 2 to 3 days prior to your event.
  • For Manzanita branches, if you would like the farm to remove the leaves, this needs to be requested in advance.
If you are unsure what day to select, pick the best available date you can, we suggest 3 days prior to the event. OR you can contact our flower care experts by chat or email to help you decide which date is best for you.
