Care & Handling

Care & Handling for Calendula Yellow Flowers (Pot Marigold)

To get the best performance and longevity from your Calendula Yellow bulk flowers, follow these simple but essential care tips upon delivery:

1. Unpack Immediately

Carefully open your box upon arrival. Remove the Calendula Yellow flowers from packaging and gently separate the bunches to allow airflow.

2. Re-cut the Stems

Using sharp, sanitized floral shears, trim at least ½ inch off each stem at a 45° angle. This promotes hydration and prevents stem blockage.

3. Hydrate in Clean Water

Place the flowers in a clean vase or floral bucket filled with fresh, cool water. Add floral preservative if available. Be sure to remove any foliage below the water line to reduce bacteria growth.

4. Store in a Cool Environment

Keep your bulk calendula flowers in a shaded, well-ventilated space ideally between 36°F and 50°F. Avoid heat, direct sunlight, and exposure to fruit (which emits ethylene gas).

5. Maintain Daily

Change the water daily, re-trim stems every 2 days, and remove wilted blooms to maximize vase life.

With proper care, your Calendula Yellow marigolds will stay vibrant for 6 to 8 days, making them a top choice for weddings, events, and floral designers who need dependable, long-lasting color.

Tips for ordering
  • We recommend that most flowers be scheduled to be delivered 2-3 days prior to an event. All flowers are harvested just prior to delivery.
  • Delicate flowers such as Lily of the Valley, Gardenias, and Stephanotis are best when delivered 1-2 days before the event.
  • Iris have a short vase life so the delivery should be scheduled 2 days prior to your event.
  • Lotus have a short vase life so they need to be ordered 1-2 days prior to events.
  • Peonies and Ranunculus may take longer to open during cold months. Schedule delivery of these flowers 3-4 days prior to your event.
  • Alstroemeria, Gladiolus, Agapanthus, Stars of Bethlehem, Sunflowers, and Lilies may require at least 3 days for blooming. Consider scheduling delivery of these flowers 3-4 days before your event.
  • Blooming branches for Jan and Feb deliveries should be scheduled for delivery at least 7 - 10 days before your event to permit adequate blooming. Expect blooming in 10 days with cold weather. For March and later, a 4-5 day lead time before your wedding or event is suggested for proper blooming.
  • Pumpkin branches schedule delivery 2 to 3 days prior to your event.
  • For Manzanita branches, if you would like the farm to remove the leaves, this needs to be requested in advance.
If you are unsure what day to select, pick the best available date you can, we suggest 3 days prior to the event. OR you can contact our flower care experts by chat or email to help you decide which date is best for you.
