Q: Do calendula flowers pair well with other blooms?

A: Absolutely. Calendulas look stunning when combined with sunflowers, daisies, snapdragons, baby’s breath, and greenery like eucalyptus.

Q: Are calendula flowers only for floral arrangements?

A: No! In addition to their beauty, calendula is often used in herbal teas, skin salves, and natural remedies, though the flowers sold here are for decorative use only.

Care & Handling

Care & Handling for Calendula Orange Flowers (Marigolds)

To get the best performance and vase life from your fresh-cut Calendula Orange Flowers, follow these simple yet effective care and handling tips:

  1. Unpack Immediately Upon Arrival
Carefully remove the bunches from the shipping box. Gently separate the stems and inspect for any wilting or loose petals caused by transit.
  2. Trim the Stems
Using clean, sharp floral shears, cut ½ inch off the bottom of each stem at a 45-degree angle. This allows for maximum water absorption.
  3. Hydrate in Clean Water
Place the stems in a sanitized floral bucket or vase filled with fresh, cool water. Add flower food or a floral preservative if available. Avoid submerging any leaves below the waterline.
  4. Allow to Rehydrate in a Cool Area
Store your bulk calendula flowers in a shaded, cool space (ideally 36°F to 50°F) for 4–8 hours before arranging. This step helps them regain full strength and color.
  5. Ongoing Maintenance
Change the water daily, re-trim stems every 2 days, and remove any fading petals to prolong freshness.

With proper care, calendula flowers can maintain their bold color and structure for 6 to 8 days, making them a great choice for weddings, events, and everyday floral designs.

Tips for ordering
  • We recommend that most flowers be scheduled to be delivered 2-3 days prior to an event. All flowers are harvested just prior to delivery.
  • Delicate flowers such as Lily of the Valley, Gardenias, and Stephanotis are best when delivered 1-2 days before the event.
  • Iris have a short vase life so the delivery should be scheduled 2 days prior to your event.
  • Lotus have a short vase life so they need to be ordered 1-2 days prior to events.
  • Peonies and Ranunculus may take longer to open during cold months. Schedule delivery of these flowers 3-4 days prior to your event.
  • Alstroemeria, Gladiolus, Agapanthus, Stars of Bethlehem, Sunflowers, and Lilies may require at least 3 days for blooming. Consider scheduling delivery of these flowers 3-4 days before your event.
  • Blooming branches for Jan and Feb deliveries should be scheduled for delivery at least 7 - 10 days before your event to permit adequate blooming. Expect blooming in 10 days with cold weather. For March and later, a 4-5 day lead time before your wedding or event is suggested for proper blooming.
  • Pumpkin branches schedule delivery 2 to 3 days prior to your event.
  • For Manzanita branches, if you would like the farm to remove the leaves, this needs to be requested in advance.
If you are unsure what day to select, pick the best available date you can, we suggest 3 days prior to the event. OR you can contact our flower care experts by chat or email to help you decide which date is best for you.
