Designing Tips

For Brides

  1. Bridal Bouquets:

Combine white lilac with peonies, garden roses, or ranunculus for a soft, romantic texture. Lilacs add gentle movement and a nostalgic scent that enhances your walk down the aisle.

  2. Hair Florals:

Use small lilac clusters woven into braids or updos for a fresh, natural fragrance that lasts through the ceremony.

  3. Photography Tip:

White lilacs catch light beautifully — pair them with ivory tones or soft greens to keep photos bright and airy.

For Event Planners

  1. Centerpieces:

Create airy, garden-inspired centerpieces by mixing white lilac with blush roses, lisianthus, and silver dollar eucalyptus.

  2. Aisle or Arch Décor:

Their cascading form makes lilac perfect for floral arches, aisle arrangements, or entryway garlands — giving an elegant spring scent throughout the venue.

  3. Color Pairing:

White lilac complements every color palette — especially sage, dusty blue, champagne, and lavender — balancing both cool and warm tones.

For General Décor & Gifting

  1. Home Arrangements:

Place stems in vintage glass or ceramic vases for a fresh, countryside look. Replace water daily to extend fragrance.

  2. Gifting Idea:

Present a bundle of fresh white lilac tied with silk ribbon as a simple, heartfelt gift — perfect for birthdays or spring celebrations.

  3. Aromatherapy & Style:

Their natural perfume fills a room gently — ideal for minimalist interiors or spa-inspired home décor.

Care and Handling

Fresh White Lilac Care & Handling Guide

1. Upon Arrival

  • Unpack immediately: Remove the lilac bunches from their box as soon as they arrive.
  • Hydrate quickly: Recut stems at a 45° angle under clean, room-temperature water using sharp shears or a floral knife.
  • Strip lower leaves: Remove any foliage that will sit below the waterline to prevent bacterial growth.

2. Hydration & Conditioning

  • Use deep buckets: Place stems in deep, clean buckets with lukewarm water and a professional flower food solution (or 1 tsp sugar + a drop of bleach per quart as a backup).
  • Let them rest: Allow lilacs to hydrate in a cool, dim area for at least 4–6 hours before arranging.
  • Mist regularly: Lilac blooms dehydrate quickly; mist flower heads lightly several times a day for freshness.

3. Temperature & Environment

  • Ideal storage: Keep lilacs in a cool room (38–45°F / 3–7°C) away from direct sunlight, drafts, or fruit (which emits ethylene gas).
  • Avoid extreme cold: Do not refrigerate below 36°F — lilac blooms can brown or wilt if too cold.
  • Humidity helps: Moderate humidity levels (70–80%) keep petals supple and prevent premature drying.

4. Vase Life Extension Tips

  • Change water daily: Replace vase water and re-cut stems every 24 hours for maximum vase life (typically 4–6 days).
  • Additives: Use a floral preservative or sugar solution to maintain hydration and color.
  • Support stems: Lilac stems can be woody; crush or split the ends about 1 inch to improve water uptake.

5. Design & Display

  • Handle gently: The delicate florets bruise easily; avoid heavy touching during arranging.
  • Combine wisely: Pair with peonies, roses, hydrangea, or greenery for long-lasting designs.
  • Placement: Display away from heat sources, direct sun, and air vents to prolong fragrance and bloom quality.

Pro Tip

If lilacs start to wilt, re-cut the stems, submerge the entire bunch (blooms and all) in lukewarm water for 30 minutes, then return them to a clean vase — they’ll often revive beautifully.

Tips for ordering
  • We recommend that most flowers be scheduled to be delivered 2-3 days prior to an event. All flowers are harvested just prior to delivery.
  • Delicate flowers such as Lily of the Valley, Gardenias, and Stephanotis are best when delivered 1-2 days before the event.
  • Iris have a short vase life so the delivery should be scheduled 2 days prior to your event.
  • Lotus have a short vase life so they need to be ordered 1-2 days prior to events.
  • Peonies and Ranunculus may take longer to open during cold months. Schedule delivery of these flowers 3-4 days prior to your event.
  • Alstroemeria, Gladiolus, Agapanthus, Stars of Bethlehem, Sunflowers, and Lilies may require at least 3 days for blooming. Consider scheduling delivery of these flowers 3-4 days before your event.
  • Blooming branches for Jan and Feb deliveries should be scheduled for delivery at least 7 - 10 days before your event to permit adequate blooming. Expect blooming in 10 days with cold weather. For March and later, a 4-5 day lead time before your wedding or event is suggested for proper blooming.
  • Pumpkin branches schedule delivery 2 to 3 days prior to your event.
  • For Manzanita branches, if you would like the farm to remove the leaves, this needs to be requested in advance.
If you are unsure what day to select, pick the best available date you can, we suggest 3 days prior to the event. OR you can contact our flower care experts by chat or email to help you decide which date is best for you.
