Care & Handling

Care & Handling – Pink Airbrushed Hydrangea Flower

Upon arrival, immediately unpack your Pink Airbrushed Hydrangea Flowers and remove any packaging that may trap moisture. Cut the stems at a sharp angle under water (using a knife, not scissors) to allow for proper hydration. Gently peel away 1 to 2 inches of the stem’s outer layer like a carrot to increase water intake, and place stems in fresh, cool water for a minimum of 4–6 hours before arranging.

Hydrangeas are water-thirsty blooms—ensure they stay hydrated at all times. Mist the heads daily to help retain moisture in the petals, especially for airbrushed varieties that have been treated for enhanced color. Avoid direct sunlight and heat sources. Store in a cool location, ideally between 36–46°F.

If blooms appear limp, fully submerge the heads in cool water for 30 minutes to revive them. For best results, refresh water daily and recut stems every two days. Handle with care to preserve the integrity of the airbrushed finish.

Tips for ordering
  • We recommend that most flowers be scheduled to be delivered 2-3 days prior to an event. All flowers are harvested just prior to delivery.
  • Delicate flowers such as Lily of the Valley, Gardenias, and Stephanotis are best when delivered 1-2 days before the event.
  • Iris have a short vase life so the delivery should be scheduled 2 days prior to your event.
  • Lotus have a short vase life so they need to be ordered 1-2 days prior to events.
  • Peonies and Ranunculus may take longer to open during cold months. Schedule delivery of these flowers 3-4 days prior to your event.
  • Alstroemeria, Gladiolus, Agapanthus, Stars of Bethlehem, Sunflowers, and Lilies may require at least 3 days for blooming. Consider scheduling delivery of these flowers 3-4 days before your event.
  • Blooming branches for Jan and Feb deliveries should be scheduled for delivery at least 7 - 10 days before your event to permit adequate blooming. Expect blooming in 10 days with cold weather. For March and later, a 4-5 day lead time before your wedding or event is suggested for proper blooming.
  • Pumpkin branches schedule delivery 2 to 3 days prior to your event.
  • For Manzanita branches, if you would like the farm to remove the leaves, this needs to be requested in advance.
If you are unsure what day to select, pick the best available date you can, we suggest 3 days prior to the event. OR you can contact our flower care experts by chat or email to help you decide which date is best for you.
