Designing Tips

Cockscomb Celosia Red – Christa Act Dara is a bold statement flower prized for its rich crimson color and sculptural, velvety crest. Use it as a focal bloom in modern, tropical, or dramatic wedding and event designs. Its dense texture contrasts beautifully with soft florals like roses, ranunculus, lisianthus, and garden spray roses.

For elevated arrangements, pair red cockscomb with greenery such as monstera, salal, or leather leaf, or soften the look with cream, blush, or champagne blooms. This variety works exceptionally well in low centerpieces, altar arrangements, statement urns, and editorial-style bouquets where texture and color impact are key.

Care

Upon arrival, remove all packaging and re-cut stems at an angle using clean, sharp floral shears. Place stems in clean containers with fresh, cool water and floral preservative. Remove any foliage below the waterline to prevent bacterial growth.

Cockscomb celosia prefers room-temperature water and should be kept in a cool, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and cold drafts. Do not refrigerate below recommended floral storage temperatures, as extreme cold can damage the bloom’s texture. With proper care, this variety maintains its vibrant color and firm structure, making it ideal for events that require reliable performance.

Tips for ordering
  • We recommend that most flowers be scheduled to be delivered 2-3 days prior to an event. All flowers are harvested just prior to delivery.
  • Delicate flowers such as Lily of the Valley, Gardenias, and Stephanotis are best when delivered 1-2 days before the event.
  • Iris have a short vase life so the delivery should be scheduled 2 days prior to your event.
  • Lotus have a short vase life so they need to be ordered 1-2 days prior to events.
  • Peonies and Ranunculus may take longer to open during cold months. Schedule delivery of these flowers 3-4 days prior to your event.
  • Alstroemeria, Gladiolus, Agapanthus, Stars of Bethlehem, Sunflowers, and Lilies may require at least 3 days for blooming. Consider scheduling delivery of these flowers 3-4 days before your event.
  • Blooming branches for Jan and Feb deliveries should be scheduled for delivery at least 7 - 10 days before your event to permit adequate blooming. Expect blooming in 10 days with cold weather. For March and later, a 4-5 day lead time before your wedding or event is suggested for proper blooming.
  • Pumpkin branches schedule delivery 2 to 3 days prior to your event.
  • For Manzanita branches, if you would like the farm to remove the leaves, this needs to be requested in advance.
If you are unsure what day to select, pick the best available date you can, we suggest 3 days prior to the event. OR you can contact our flower care experts by chat or email to help you decide which date is best for you.
