Care & Handling

Upon Arrival:

  • Carefully unbox your blue anemones and remove any packaging material.
  • Recut stems by about 1 inch at a 45-degree angle using clean, sharp shears.
  • Immediately place in clean buckets or vases filled with fresh, cool water for at least 6 hours before arranging.

Hydration Tips:

  • Store in a cool room or floral cooler (36–50°F) away from heat and direct light.
  • Replace water daily and trim stems every 1–2 days for maximum freshness.
  • Remove any leaves that sit below the waterline to avoid bacteria growth.

Handling Advice:

  • Anemones have delicate petals—handle them gently during prep and arrangement.
  • Avoid squeezing blooms or placing heavy stems on top of them in buckets.

Design Tips:

  • Blue anemone flowers are perfect for creating contrast in bridal bouquets or event centerpieces.
  • Their rich hue pairs well with soft white roses, cream ranunculus, blush peonies, and greenery.
  • Ideal for winter weddings, coastal themes, or elegant evening events.
  • Use them in hand-tied bouquets, low floral bowls, or tall centerpiece designs for versatile applications.

Storage:

  • Keep away from ethylene-producing fruits like bananas or apples.
  • Always keep stems hydrated and avoid placing arrangements near direct airflow or sunlight.

Tips for ordering
  • We recommend that most flowers be scheduled to be delivered 2-3 days prior to an event. All flowers are harvested just prior to delivery.
  • Delicate flowers such as Lily of the Valley, Gardenias, and Stephanotis are best when delivered 1-2 days before the event.
  • Iris have a short vase life so the delivery should be scheduled 2 days prior to your event.
  • Lotus have a short vase life so they need to be ordered 1-2 days prior to events.
  • Peonies and Ranunculus may take longer to open during cold months. Schedule delivery of these flowers 3-4 days prior to your event.
  • Alstroemeria, Gladiolus, Agapanthus, Stars of Bethlehem, Sunflowers, and Lilies may require at least 3 days for blooming. Consider scheduling delivery of these flowers 3-4 days before your event.
  • Blooming branches for Jan and Feb deliveries should be scheduled for delivery at least 7 - 10 days before your event to permit adequate blooming. Expect blooming in 10 days with cold weather. For March and later, a 4-5 day lead time before your wedding or event is suggested for proper blooming.
  • Pumpkin branches schedule delivery 2 to 3 days prior to your event.
  • For Manzanita branches, if you would like the farm to remove the leaves, this needs to be requested in advance.
If you are unsure what day to select, pick the best available date you can, we suggest 3 days prior to the event. OR you can contact our flower care experts by chat or email to help you decide which date is best for you.
