1. Before placing your roses in water, trim approximately 1 inch (2 cm) off your stems in a diagonal fashion.

2. Remove leaves attached to the stem that remains inside the vase. Leaves or foliage should never touch the water or remain inside the vase.

3. Use filtered water or water that is safe for human consumption. Avoid using tap water that may contain chlorine or other chemicals that may shorten your flower's vase life.

4. Keep the vase water level at 3-4 inches (7-10 cm) in height, depending on the size of the vase. Floral preservative or a teaspoon of sugar may be added as food.

5. Do not place your bulk roses in a brightly lit area. It is best they be stored in a cool place, with indirect light.

6. While roses do fine at room temperature, they may be stored down to 40F. In general, the cooler roses are kept, the longer the vase life.

7. Trim the stems about ½ inch (1 cm) and change the water every other day.

8. Add water as the flowers consume it, or change it completely, but do maintain the recommended level.
