Your Heliconia Orange Tropical Flower just arrived! Now your fresh cut flowers need to be hydrated and processed. It is important to give your tropical flowers a couple of hours to hydrate and replenish. Depending on the variety purchased, some flowers may need 24 to 36 hours to hydrate and perk up.
CARE AND HANDLING FOR OUR HELICONIA FLOWER
- Place your tropical flowers in clean, fresh, filtered water. Carefully remove leaves, or foliage that fall under the water level (without tearing the stem skin) to avoid the build-up of bacteria. Cut one inch off the end of the stem in a 45-degree angle (with a sharp knife NOT scissors) to allow water to be better absorbed through the stems. After cutting the stem at an angle, quickly place your fresh cut flowers in water since it only takes a minute for the stem to dry and seal up.
- Keep your fresh cut flowers in a shaded, cool, relatively humid area (not cooler than 60F). Avoid placing your fresh cut flowers near hot surfaces or environments. Fresh cut flowers must be in water at all times until they are ready to be used.
- When storing your fresh cut flowers, do not move them from hot to cold or cold to hot temperatures to avoid that they get hypothermia. Drastic changes in temperature burns fresh cut flowers. When handling tropical flowers keep in mind that cold weather can affect them, keep your tropical flowers in a relative warm area away from direct sunlight.
- Do not keep your fresh cut flowers in the refrigerator overnight since many fruit and vegetable gases can damage your tropical flowers.
ORDER PLACEMENT FOR HELICONIA FLOWERS: We recommend to order your tropical flowers at least two weeks before your wedding or event to ensure product and colors availability.
SCHEDULING DELIVERY FOR MY HELICONIA FLOWERS: Recommended to occur 2-3 days before your event for hydration and blooming purposes.
CARRIER FLOWER DELIVERY: 1-3 days prior to your scheduled delivery, Whole Blossoms will email you your FedEx tracking numbers. Registered customers may also access their tracking numbers by logging into their online account for viewing. Please keep in mind that tropical flowers dropped off outside may be exposed to excessive heat or cold which can wilt flowers. Therefore, Whole Blossoms strongly recommends having someone available to assume receipt of your fresh cut flowers at the time of flower delivery.
FLOWER DELIVERY DELAYS: Please note that Whole Blossoms schedules tropical flowers to ship from the farm to arrive on your scheduled date. Because fresh cut flowers must clear US Customs and US Agriculture, fresh cut flowers may be delayed depending on speed of processing times by US authorities. Additionally, carriers may experience delays due to weather and mechanical issues. As a result, your tropical flowers may arrive a day later. In addition to US authorities, Canadian orders may also experience additional delays resulting from Canadian Customs and Agriculture.
