Your Bird of Paradise Flower just arrived! Now they need to be hydrated and processed. Carefully unpack your Birds of Paradise. All wholesale flowers look dry upon arrival and will need to be hydrated. It is important to give your fresh cut flowers a couple of hours to hydrate and replenish. Depending on the variety purchased, some wholesale flowers may need 24 to 36 hours to hydrate and perk up.

CARE AND HANDLING FOR BIRDS OF PARADISE

Place your birds of paradise in clean, fresh, filtered water. Carefully remove leaves, or foliage that fall under the water level (without tearing the stem skin) to avoid the build-up of bacteria. Cut one inch off the end of the stem in a 45-degree angle (with a sharp knife NOT scissors) to allow water to be better absorbed through the stems. After cutting the stem at an angle, quickly place your fresh flowers in water since it only takes a minute for the stem to dry and seal up.

  • In order to help Bird of Paradise Flowers open properly, use your hands to carefully penetrate the covering and gently take out one of the blooms so your flowers can continue to open. Keep your tropical flowers in a shaded, cool, relatively humid area (not cooler than 60F). Avoid placing your bird of paradise flowers near hot surfaces or environments. Bird of Paradise flowers must be in water at all times until they are ready to be used.
  • When storing your birds of paradise, do not move them from hot to cold or cold to hot temperatures to avoid that they get hypothermia. Drastic changes in temperature can burn your tropical flower.
  • Do not keep your bird of paradise flowers in the refrigerator overnight since many fruit and vegetable gases can damage your fresh flowers.
  • ORDER PLACEMENT FOR BIRDS OF PARADISE: We recommend to order your tropical flower at least two weeks before your wedding or event to ensure product and colors availability.
  • SCHEDULING DELIVERY FOR MY BIRDS OF PARADISE: Recommended to occur 2-3 days before your event for hydration and blooming purposes.
  • ADDITIONAL TROPICAL FLOWER INFORMATION: Birds of paradise are harvested just prior to shipping and generally packed and tied down in 5 stem bunches.
  • CARRIER FLOWER DELIVERY: 1-3 days prior to your scheduled delivery, Whole Blossoms will email you your FedEx tracking numbers. Registered customers may also access their tracking numbers by logging into their online account for viewing. Please keep in mind that wholesale flowers dropped off outside may be exposed to excessive heat or cold which can wilt flowers. Therefore, Whole Blossoms strongly recommends having someone available to assume receipt of your tropical flower at the time of delivery.
  • FLOWER DELIVERY DELAYS: Please note that Whole Blossoms schedules bird of paradise flowers to ship from the farm to arrive on your scheduled date. Because wholesale flowers must clear US Customs and US Agriculture, flowers may be delayed depending on speed of processing times by US authorities. Additionally, carriers may experience delays due to weather and mechanical issues. As a result, your tropical flower may arrive a day later. In addition to US authorities, Canadian orders may also experience additional delays resulting from Canadian Customs and Agriculture.
  • As a flower wholesaler, Whole Blossoms imports and distributes over 1500 unique flower varieties weekly so you can enjoy the most beautiful fresh cut wedding flowers every week of the year!
