Your Whole Blossoms IRIS just arrived! Now they need to be hydrated and processed so your stunning bouquets and centerpieces can be designed. All bulk flowers look dry upon arrival and will need to be hydrated.

  • It is important to give your wholesale wedding flowers a couple of hours to hydrate and replenish. Depending on the variety purchased, some flowers may need 24 to 36 hours to hydrate and perk up.
  • Unpack fresh cut flowers as soon as you receive them and cut about one inch of the stem at an angle (with a sharp knife NOT scissors). Remove foliage that could fall under water to avoid bacteria to build-in and place the flowers in clean, fresh, warm, filtered water (100F-105F). Keep Iris in water at all times. Use floral preservative to hydrate your Iris. If floral preservative is not available, add one spoon of sugar and one drop of bleach to the filtered water in which Iris are being hydrated. If the flowers are not going to be displayed immediately, try to keep them in a fresh place preferably (40F-60F) and at least 80% humidity in fresh water with floral preservative. Replace water and floral preservative frequently to ensure long vase life.
  • Iris are delicate flowers that suffer from dehydration and water stress. Keep these flowers in water as much time as possible since they need to be hydrated with plenty of water. Iris open quickly and only last a few days. Average vaselife: of 4-6 days.
  • If your Iris are not opening fast enough, wrap the top of the flowers in newspaper overnight. This will accelerate the opening process. Keep Iris in water at all times.
