Gardenias come packed in a small box with three blossoms. They will need extra care upon arrival to ensure freshness.

  • Upon arrival, open the Gardenia box and pull each individual flower out of its protective holder very carefully without touching the flowers (only touch the leaves from underneath). Keep your hands wet and cold in case that you touch your Gardenias by accident. Because of the sensitivity of Gardenias, heat and even warm hand temperature can potentially damage the flowers. Cut the short stems slightly  and hydrate each Gardenia individually for about 30 minutes by damping the blossom in a container with cool distilled water (not freezing water or ice). Allow the Gardenias to float so they receive enough water to be properly hydrated. Let them soak and you will see how voluptuous and full the petals will become by drinking the water. After 30 minutes, lift the Gardenias out (without touching the blossoms).
  • If your florist is processing your Gardenias, ask to spray them with ransparent Crowning Glory Floralife. Saturate the face and reach behind the back too until the Gardenia is entirely saturated with Crowning Glory. This will coat the flower with a seal and lock in the moisture so they are fully hydrated and happy! Then, carefully set the Gardenias on a towel and let them dry at room temperature for about 5-10 minutes until dry. Then, use an individual air tight container (like tupperware) for each Gardenia, place a paper towel at the bottom of the air tight container, spray the towel paper with water until it is damped and then set each Gardenias inside of the container. Ensure the Gardenia Blossoms are COMPLETELY AND ENTIRELY DRY before storing them in the air tight container . Otherwise, they will get little brown spots. After storing each Gardenia, close and seal each container and refrigerate them immediately. Be sure to remove ALL fruits and vegetables from the fridge before storing your Gardenias as any ethylene gas can potentially damage the Gardenias.
  • Gardenias can be scheduled for a Thursday delivery for a Saturday wedding and will hold fine provided refrigeration is provided and the care and handling instructions are followed. If you are unsure on how to properly care for gardenias, we recommend scheduling the delivery of your Gardenias for the day before your wedding or event.
  • Designing Tips: Gardenias like any other flower are not perfect. If your Gardenia leaves or petals have brown spots that come from the plant, carefully cut the border of the flower with scissors to remove these imperfections when designing your Gardenias, pour lemon juice in a bowl with water and submerge the area of the gardenia that was cut in the lemon juice/water mix to seal the petal or area cut to ensure that it doesn’t turn brown again. If a brown spot appears in the center of the flower where the petals cannot be cut, use white-off to paint the brown spot and it will become almost invisible.
  • Keep Gardenias in a shaded, cool, relatively humid area (if possible under 45F) at all times. Avoid processing or placing your Gardenias near hot surfaces, vegetables, or fruit.
  • Keep Gardenias away from fruit and vegetables since they are ethylene sensitive.
