Vase Life: 4-7 days, depending on care and handling

Once your fresh cut Queen Ann’s Lace is delivered, it is very important to hydrate them as soon as possible.

To begin, prepare clean buckets or vases with a few inches of water. Be sure your containers are clean and sanitized prior to use. Leftover dirt or grime can harm your flowers. It is recommended that you use clean water, free of harmful chemicals. Mineral water is best, if available. It is not necessary to completely fill your buckets with water. A few inches is usually sufficient. Floral preservative or flower food may be added to the water. A teaspoon of table sugar can also be used for every quart of water. Be sure to mix the preservative well within the water. To mitigate the natural growth of water bacteria, a few drops of lemon juice or bleach may be added for every quart of water.

Once your containers are prepared, carefully remove your flowers from the box and trim about 1/4-1/2 inches off the end of the flower stems. Cut the stems at an angle and use floral shears or a sharp knife; not scissors which do not leave a clean cut. Remove any leaves or foliage that might remain under your vase water, to mitigate the growth of bacteria and rotting that may occur. To promote vase life, store your Queen Anne's lace in a cool place (no lower than 40F) with ample humidity. Keep your flowers away from direct sunlight or heat. It is important that the flowers remain in water at all times.

Be sure to replace your water ever 2-3 days, as this will elongate the vase life of your flowers. Floral preservative may be included at each changing as well.

Queen Ann's Lace commonly suffer from water stress and are ethylene sensitive so they need to be kept away from fruit and vegetables to ensure a long vase life.
