Whatever event you may be organizing, don’t ever forget that flower arrangements give a classy look. Any corner will gain in importance when it is presided by flowers, even more when they’re fresh cut. The main thing is that the flowers become one with the whole decor. Floral arrangements, centerpieces, or small floral accents will allow you to add a touch of elegance and distinction to your event.
The floral tradition in North America is old and the love for flowers is ancient. Many are the times when you turn to flower arrangements. Wedding arrangements, for church ceremonies, festivals, events, baptisms, communions and anniversaries reaching even corporate meetings and parties.
Flower Care
Arrangements can be classified into two types: traditional or classic floral arrangements, and informal arrangements. The more formal designs are those with just a couple of species, and even a single type of flower. The informal ones are those which leave the symmetry aside, and play with several species.
We can also differentiate flower arrangements depending on the point of view from which we observe. There are also the so called Universal Arrangements which are those that have the flowers arranged in such a way that can be looked at from any place.
These Universal Arrangements are usually located as a centerpiece, made with low plant species, supported by shallow containers, where large round flowers prevail.
On the other hand, we have the so called Front Arrangements. Such arrangements are used in corners, auxiliary and side tables. The beauty of these can only be appreciated by one side because the other, has no flowers. Clearly, Front Arrangements are cheaper because they require less decoration. When we make an arrangement of this kind, it is best to choose high and stylized flower vases. These Arrangements are used for Baptisms, Weddings, Ceremonies, Churches, etc.
The height of the centerpieces with flowers is determined by the practical use of the place: if no one will sit around that table, the arrangement will be as high and big as we want, whereas if a table is shared by diners, the arrangement will be spread wide, or if its high not very big, it should allow the conversation between the people sat at the table.
Floral arrangements help to create different atmospheres. For example, roses, gladiolus, and callas can give a romantic feel. While the brightly colored flowers such as daisies, carnations and lilies provide a more informal note.
The proper care for floral arrangements is that when you complete an arrangement, ensure that it always has a wet sponge which can include nutrients and preservatives (if necessary depending on the flower variety). Also, try spraying with water on the leaves and flowers mainly in warmer times of the day such as at noon. If you have a rose arrangement, add a pinch of sugar in the water to help the blooms open. Additionally, place your arrangement in a cool place where it doesn’t receive direct light. If your arrangement is made of gladiolus, place a tablespoon of white vinegar to keep them fresh.
